What a Foreigner hopes Americans will learn from Bush's Iraq war
As a non-American I hope you learn from Bush's war that
(1)You are NOT the greatest democracy in the world that every other country should be emulating..You are the geatest POWER...that's different....You are not told that other countries are democratic and yet can disagree with what you are doing..(2) The fact that the rest of us don't agree with what you are doing doesn't mean we don't like you as people...This is something that I think is a big misunderstanding....I'm a Canadian, and I know from the polls I've seen in Canada, that Canadians genuinley like Americans...But not Bush and your present government.....I'm an optomist and I really believe Kerry will win in the fall......I think this will make a huge difference in America's relations with not only Canada, but the rest of the world.:

1. I agree wholeheartedly that Kerry`s election as President
will in and of itself go a long ways in undoing the damage the current Admin. has caused in our relations with other Nations. I also believe he will make a good President. He has been a good Senator. ...Oscar

2. You know this is the sad lesson of history
it seems that every generation has to relearn these harsh lesons.

IT is not always the Muricans... even if it does look that way over the last 30 years...

But every generation, at worst every two generations, have to learn that war is no game... and that those who are powerful, at times lack the power to LEAD.

Every generation has to learn the sweet lie, because the tales of their elders cannot be for real.

And every time the lesson is just as painful.

Never again, didn't we say this collectively fifty, almost sixty years ago? Yet here we are, facing the same horrors once again and this time the good guys are the bad guys, and proves once again that we are capable of the greatest good and the greatest evil... all at the same time.

I would like to make this more general. I hope we as a species learn that we have far more in common than what separates us, and ideologues of ANY stripe should be shunned.

and you are absolutely right. Believe it or not, a lot of us down here are working our asses off to change things.
