1. Of Course. The TV dealers may be pleased afterwards though.
His appearance on anyone's airwaves makes all things worse.

2. The only sense I can make of it
is that it is somehow supposed to "shore up" his domestic political base. He's been doing a lot of that lately, to our general detriment.

6. But they'll translate
I hope the translators can a) make sense of Bush and b) translate it to make it sound a lot better than it really does.

12. If the translation is overdubbed he might come off OK.
Many educated viewers will have some knowledge of English. If the translation is in subtitles & they're allowed to hear his voice, their disgust will only grow.

5. Andyone remember Max Headroom?
I surprised they don't have a Dubya version of it for just such occasions - would surely do a better job than Bush ever could.

They are undoubtedly extremely mistrustful of US intentions right now. $hrub trying to reassure them is only going to look all the more suspicious in their eyes.

This cabal must admit that this war is over now. There is nothing left that can be accomplished by staying in Iraq, other than more death and destruction. The possibility of "winning hearts and minds" went down the crapper the day the Iraqis saw the torture pics.

It is time to round up the troops and bring them home

5/4/2004: Al-Arabiya Will Question Bush

#1 zulubaby 5/4/2004 08:05PM PST

Good grief, he's the president of the most powerful country in the world! The whole world has gone insane.

#7 Globular Cluster 5/4/2004 08:11PM PST

I posted earlier on what a big, unbelievable fucking mistake this is.

Un fucking believable.

Is president Bush going to issue a formal interview EVERY TIME A SOLDIER MAKES A MISTAKE? IS THIS A JOKE?

This is the single worst PR decision that the White House has ever, ever made.

Bush must be crapping in his pants to be bowing, Islamic style, for the raghead press.

Problem is, the jihadis will smell the stain in his knickers, and be further emboldened. :-(

20. According to Raed
Their televisions today are filled with the French news film of Americans in helicopters shooting Iraqis on the ground.

First humiliation and abuse, then skeet shooting Iraqi targets.

No, this is not going to simmer down.
