CBS reporting bush first heard of the abuses on the news?
Gimme a break and a half. As New Yorker reported, this stuff has been going on since last fall.

President Bush will speak directly to the Arab people to talk about the widening Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal. Ten deaths are being probed. The report on prisoner abuse is two months old, but Mr. Bush says he first heard about it on the news.

3. Bingo

That's the first thing I thought of, he said himself that he doesn't watch the news or read papers. They aren't even trying to make up good lies for him anymore. I guess they think any old lie will do.

7. I thought the same thing!
The lies are getting stale for Bush. Now, I'd like to see someone in the media bring up the fact that he said he doesn't watch.

4. If true

5. Gee, and people wonder how 9/11 could have happened
If it wasn't LIHOP (although I believe it was), it was just a matter of gross negligence and severe incompetence.

This fucking moron doesn't read the paper, apparently doesn't read PDBs, and gets information like this from the fucking evening news?

What the hell?

Maybe if he didn't spend 84% of the time fundraising or on vacation...

Well, actually, that probably wouldn't make a difference. Its probably better for America that Bush is only working 16% of the time.

6. He is such a liar! They at least by Jan.
This is like his dad and Reagan saying they knew nothing about Iran Contra. Why don't freepers question the fact that evidently the military is running amok and their president appears to be completely out of the loop.

8. But Rummie said everybody knew by January
because they had announced it to the press in one of their daily briefings.

Funny, Rummie washes his hands because he already told us, but the pResident and Congress didn't have a clue?

12. Maybe Rummie told by slipping it in real quick back in Jan
"Oh, and before I go, a couple of notes:

The Thrusday press conference has been rescheduled to 2:15pm, there is a blue Ford Taurus, Virginia plates, with its lights on, and... oh, and our soldiers have been torturing Iraqi prisoners. Thanks."

15. I heard he had been briefed, but didn't see the pix until they were
on the news. My guess is he was briefedat least as early as January when the press release came about about them doing an investigation. I wonder if he knew before then?
