Solution to Calif. Crisis : Beating Arnold & Bush ...... "It Politics"
I hope Terry Mccauliffe is reading these threads and taking notes. Becuase everything he has to win the Calif. election and the Presindential 2004 election is right before his eyes (In my opinion).

Here's the assumption of what will happen...then the outline onhow to defeat this strategy.

The media will go nut's covering Arnold and calif. In the process the various stories of importance are left behind (CIA outing, Energy task force and Black Box Voting etc.....). ALSO the Democratic message from candidates will essentially be quieted....no media coverage becuase of Kobe and gay priests for the next several months.

The question is: how do you use their enthusiasm for deception and circus media attention against them?

Here's the strategy and it's quite simple:
------------------------------------------
Weapons/messages to be used
a) the content of Gore's speech to the NY club (brilliant)
b) the Calif.- Enron- Bush - connection (lay out the facts)
c) a few demo candidates out in calif. supporting the above
d) last but not least ....Mr. Gore himself.

Bush shared "it's politics"....well the above is politics as well. The outline of Bush deception that Gore shared should be a connerstone and this definitely applies to the mess created out in California.

If Gore/Kerry/Dean etc. were out in Calif. with the blood hungry media in Calif. they could hear the Gore speech/Enron- Calif - Bush connection over..over..over....

Bush would not campaign for Arnold in Calif if this strategy were used. And even if Bush joins Dick in his "hole" ....this is the strategy that can win.

Use Gore....Gore's message ... Dem candidates all "on message" and you have a serious campaign for Calf and 2004.

I welcome your thoughts.

1. And the phoniness & hypocrisy
Expose the harm the Republicans do - deregulation is privatization, Enron started their electric scam about the time they knew Bush would be President and not stop it, connect those dots like you said.

Phony candidates, Arnold is not prepared to be the Governor, no more than the other candidates like Gary Coleman, Mary Cary or even Arianna Huffington. Hypocites - Arnold can be governor, but Hollywood activists should shut up. They'll say and do anything when they want to win.

And Mr. Gore's wonderful false impressions speech; just a bunch of false impressions by the Party of false impressions, which we've had since the biggest purveyor of false impressions, Ronald Reagan.

This really should be an easy win if they do this and add just one or two good Democrats, like you say.

And everybody has to AGREE! (That'd be the hard part!)

2. I agree..the problem is you can't have 9 candidates going out there
Let's say they all agreed and just left it to gore (since he know's his message/speech) ...and then he had one written for the enron/calf/bush connection.

At this point ..I would be tickled if ANY of the above would embrace such a tactic...I don't see the downside...facts are facts.

3. Still...
I don't think anything will get through the babble except a campaign gaffe humiliation of its own of epic proportions. Bush/Ventura. Did facts, ridicule, debates, issues, anything overcome the "it" factor? I think it is more focussed to get directly at the base, the starry-eyed yahoo for the rebel outsider, even if this means- as Davis did with Riordan- promoting one of Arnie's rivals.

I think if you come straight at the guy with a duel of PR campaigns or speeches that don't play on the same field as the GOP media blitz it won't be enough. Arnold hardly towers above any of the other contenders already in readiness or mental capacity. Time to take apart his strength. No one is going to pay attention to his weaknesses. He thinks he knows what pressure and competition is all about. His handlers will be there to protect him. Break through that. The low expectations and government donnybrook is such that the yahoos think ANYONE could and should get in to shake up the mess. Stop that image too before you get the wise old reporters starting to cozy up to the notion. Just showing the GOP as disruptors is not quite enough since their goal of trashing the whole government in everyone's eyes is a big enough victory. Help the candidate who is popular enough and entertaining enough to get under Arnold's skin and puncture this stupid balloon. Tout the candidates vis a vis good ideas and serious solutions that Arnold could not possibly even understand much less support.

Transform the negative recall into a search for new ideas over empty suit leadership. Reform and Democratic RESPONSIVENESS not surly circling of wagons. Good humor, better humor than rerun movie quips. Bring in Clinton and Gore. Revitalize. And as mentioned above. Declare war on Enron and those who threaten to take over the sate ultimately. Enthusiastic outreach to Latinos. Quietly build a big base around a single Dem candidate without saying as much. Celebrate democracy. Level the egos and Arnold sinks into a sidewalk star. Let people let off steam. Respond to their ideas.

4. They need a campaign to vote to retain Davis and vote
Bustamante as a backup.

Focus on that...
