The freepers are losing it
These people are in serious need of help from trained mental health professionals. I have never seen a group of people who togather have lost their collective grip on reality. It seems in their sick minds the whole prison abuse scandal is just another left wing plot.

3. "I do not believe these Iraqis can read or write English. "
I am sorry, that was as far as I got before I felt the urge to vomit.

I am telling you, if these people take another 4 years, I am so tempted to get the hell out of here.

The worst thing? These people are beginning to inspire a rage in me, and I do not like it.

They are hitting on all cylinders on all sides, and I am not going to live under their insanity.

Someone PLEASE wake me up.

19. I know how you feel.
I can't believe these people. Bill Clinton was not my first choice in the '92 primaries but I strongly supported him in the election. There are somethings I will stand up for him about, others I would likely agree with his critics. But these guys, their party loyalty knows no bounds.

I am all for debate and multiple points of view. I actually respect some traditional conservative thought. I see it as an important part of our democracy. More voices leads to more, and therefore better, solutions. But, some things are not debatable. Some things can't be spun into being right or moral. This whole Iraq affair and the Bush administration's policies in general are some of those things. A total disregard for diplomacy, international law and our own Constitution is simply bad. It is simply wrong. No need for a debate, just a need for trial by jury.

Example: a group of people holding signs--evokes:

14. The thing is someone probably did organize it
That person was an Iraqi of course; but people don't just spontaneously just show up to protest. That's a nice mythology; but even our protests here take afair amount of effort. So some iraqi individual got out his computer and printed up a bunch of signs, what's so sinister about that?

Do they really think that Iraqis wouldn't be upset by torture?

Excellent point.
They are disgusted by the idea that Iraqis might organize for their own interests instead of just serving their US masters like the freeps do. To freeps organizing and making your voice heard is somehow anti-democratic. But then they are republicans. They want a select few to rule and the rest to shut up and follow.

39. Well, your mention of an Iraqi having a computer is key.
Your average Freeper "knows" that all A-rabs is ignorant savages who hate us for our freedom, and the very thought that a fair number of Iraqis not only have computers but are every bit as IT savvy as we are, is not something they can even begin to wrap their teensy little minds around.

Edited on Wed May-05-04 12:16 PM by CalamityJane
I am so sick of when they claim that some gigantic international communist organization is behind the protesters because they have nice signs. Everybody in the world can make nice signs on a color laser printer that practically every office has, or they can go to Kinko's or the equivalent and make them for a couple of bucks!

42. y'know...
What has surprised me (although in retrospect, it shouldn't) is how many Iraqis who have been interviewed by the media speak a fairly good english, particularly in the medical field. I'm guessing that most of them studied abroad, since I doubt that english was an elective in most Iraqi schools.

So the freeps are just wrong if they think that they needed 'social-democrats' to print english signs for them. What utter dumbasses.

...were nothing but mercenaries. They were paid a minimum of $150,000.00/annum (with the first $80,000.00 tax free) to go to Iraq and kill Arabs. They were butchers who got their rocks off killing brown people. Screw those people, I have no sympathy whatsoever. Those "contractors" make me sick.

Then the AP, etc., takes the photo. The purpose is propaganda, and I believe this was orchestrated by elements such as Dan Rather/CBS et all, ABC, leftsist in US and Europe, the Democratic Party"

What the hell is wrong with those people???

And they accusing us of treason for speaking our mind? This people are traitors. They would say anything to protect Bush almighty even if it harms our freedoms and democracy. They hate America.

Anybody could have made those signs from any country. If I lived in the Middle East I would be pissed too. Thanks to *ush and company the world outside the US is becoming more and more hateful towards our great (but not so great at the moment) nation. Thank you Mr. *ush. You coke-head drunken prozak fool!

38. Good point.
IMO, the only good reason to monitor freeper attacks on their perceived "enemies" is to get some idea of what they themselves are doing. They project all their own evil onto others. Keeping this (the psychological trick of projection) in mind keeps me (somewhat) sane when faced with all the obvious lies they tell. And the virulence is their way of burying all the denial necessary to go on (and on and on) lying.

25. One of the worst things about having the the RW...
...in this country is that, in owning most of the media outlets, whose opinion do you think Arabs hear? Most of the people in the Middle East believe that the Conservative Right are representative of the United States!

I'm outraged, appalled, sick with rage against the atrocities that are being committed by the United States in Iraq. This behaviour does not represent the ideals and beliefs of this Nation.

32. Dangerously high levels of discontent!
This is a bad situation.

When so-called "liberals" or "progressives" begin to call for violence or even intimate that the opposition is best silenced through violence, this is indicative of the scope of the problem.

We should not allow our emotions to carry us away. The one clear contrast between "us" and "them" is our reluctance to use force to convince others. Our arguments flow from logic and reason, not coercion.

35. The famous last words of Walter Rathenau?
I agree that the political situation is still amenable to persuasion, but at some point, situations can slip into violent resistance. "Progressivism" is pragmatic and not dogmatic. I would no more stick to a dogmatic prohibition on violence than I would a dogmatic prohibition of particular ideas. The question is not whether "progressives" should turn violent given a particular situation. Every pragmatist knows that the situation determines the response to some extent. If somebody is attacking my daughter, I will not try to reason with or persuade this person. I will smash his fucking face in. Believe that. And I'd be crazy to do anything else.
