Today's story in The Hill attempts to create a controversy by implying that I do not welcome the support of Howard Dean and other strong Democrats. This is not the case.

I was proud to introduce Howard Dean to over 2,000 Houstonians in October, and will be proud to welcome him back any time.

In the future, I believe people will look back on Governor Dean and thank him for reviving the Democratic Party."

Kudos to him, and now he can keep my donation.
I posted the Hill article angrily in GD2004, so I want to apologize in both columns. I now feel better for our party, one candidate at a time.

Only 36% say they'd definitely vote for him again.

We (and others) got him $20,000 last week. DeLay has about $1 million and can get more at the drop of a hat.

5. It is good they are waking up about DeLay.
My son is a TX Republican, and he thinks DeLay is a big joke. We will donate more to Morrison if he continues to stand up and post stuff like that.

11. DeLay is very beatable
His district, just like a lot of Texas Repugs, do not like him. He basically holds on by scaring and smearing people. Normally his opponents do not have the money to respond. Morrison is more then willing to stand up to DeLay, but he needs money to get his message out.

Morrison is a proud Dem with a great history. He will be a strong congressman, but only if we all give him the money he needs to inform the voters of his district.

So please, give what you can and add $.22.

From a proud Texan, I say thank you.

2. Reviving the Democratic Party
That's exactly what Howard Dean did, and we all owe him a tremendous amount of gratitude.

7. I'm glad to hear this
the story in The Hill pissed me off big time. I'm glad to hear that Morrison issued a statement contradicting it.

9. I have volunteered with DFA and with Morrison.
I didn't believe that article for a minute. I knew right away that the Morrison campaign's quotes were misconstrued.

I had a long post about this typed up, but lost it when I opened another window:-(

But anyway...

My friend Melissa is the biggest Dean supporter I know, and she is the volunteer coordinator with the Morrison campaign. She would not be pouring her energy into his campaign if she felt he didn't appreciate Dean. She has been very excited about DFA's contacts with the Morrison campaign.

I was at the Dean rally in Houston when Richard spoke, and I have met him several times since. He is a good man, and I support him wholeheartedly.

Remember, this is politics, and the press is not on our side. Take these things with a grain of salt, and examine them the way you probably did when anyone had a bad quote about Dean. Give Richard the benefit of the doubt. He deserves it.

10. But if he had not spoken out on his site, we would not know.
Many of us know how they twist things, but I am in Florida. I read the article, and I had no other way of really knowing. I am very glad Morrison responded at once and powerfully. This is how it should be done.

Good for him.

12. He is running a smart campaign
And he will make a great congressman, but only if he has the money to get his name and message out there.
