Kerry bumper stickers - and the value of
I had started noticing Kerry bumper stickers popping up in my downtown Portland parking garage, and have been surprised by a recent (perceived) decline in the Bush/Cheney bumper sticker count (are people becoming rightly ashamed, or have they just been getting egged, flipped off, and keyed a lot?).

Anyway, my John Kerry "kit" finally arrives yesterday at the home address with a bumper sticker, a decal, and a cardboard sign. So I put on my bumper sticker (the only bumper sticker since "Jake the Alligator Man" that I have EVER put on a car of mine, because I just hate bumper stickers), and was immediately happier. And parking the damned car in my expensive parking garage today made me immediately much happier.

Then I checked my PO Box this morning and found two more bumper stickers waiting for me. I gave one to my workmate, and it made her smile immediately. We put the cardboard sign up in our domain, the server room, as a counter/small rebellion to all the Republicrap that tends to go up elsewhere in the office.

I have one more bumper sticker left, and I want to place it in good hands, so I'm going slowly in gifting that.

I wonder about the value of bumper stickers at this stage. Oregon has become a battleground state, and I would like to think that the small glimpse that some might get of a Kerry bumper sticker in a downtown parking garage might contribute positively to cooperative herding among undecided voters, cognitive dissonance among Bush supporters, happiness among Democrats.

What are your thoughts on this?

1. I think bumper stickers help
especially in this election. I think too many are afraid to go against this junta. Too many question your patriotism or your morals. The more we show that lot's support Kerry, the more folks will start questioning their support for *.

I have mine on and I posted a sign in my window.

2. I'm anxiously awaiting my Kerry stickers
I ordered them two or three days ago and can't wait to get them and slap them on my car and my wife's car. We live in Mississippi--yes, a Bush stronghold--but figure every little bit helps in the battle against evil....

3. It pays to advertise
Obviously, or people wouldn't do it.

BTW, I got the same kit on Monday. Yay! My Kerry sticker will go proudly next to my DU sticker. :D

4. I have a Kerry bumper sticker on my car
and it's the ONLY one in my parking garage. I live in southwestern Virginia so I don't expect to see a lot, but I'd rather not be the only one in the parking garage. I've seen a few others around town though, so I'm hoping they're catching on. My car hasn't been damaged because of the bumper sticker yet, and I feel better driving around with it on my car. I think they're a good idea, especially in areas like mine where we can feel alone in our politics.

5. Bumper Stickers are of incredible value...
Edited on Wed May-05-04 12:53 PM by onehandle
I am in the communications field. An advertising journal I recently read says that they are more valuable than ever because fewer people are using them.

Thus my sig..........

On edit: It's best to have only one or two bumper stickers. Respect goes down for individuals that cover their car. One or two is a clear message.

6. Interesting.
What's the source for the claim that respect goes down for more stickers? Just curious.

10. I need to find that journal...
I often quote the article. I'm going to look for an online article about the value and usage of bumper stickers to link to.

Basically folks who have tons of bumper stickers are seen as "fanatics". I used to be guilty of that myself. Too many opinions on too many things. These days I rotate stickers based on elections and my top concerns.

Currently: A Kerry Sticker and an American Flag.

8. Bumperstickers are essential
I am starting to see newly minted Bush stickers. They must be countered by Kerry stickers.

9. I live in North TX and noticed ONE car with a Kerry bumper sticker
what a great feeling.

The majority of people here support Bush but I rarely see Bush-Cheney sticker. I guess they just assume that every one is voting for them anyway. Seeing a Kerry sticker made me feel that I am not alone.

I have 3 anti-Bush bumper sticker on my car and am just waiting for the day that my car has a dent or scratch. Some of those pick-up driving cowboys really scare the sh*t out of me. I have a Toyota Corolla and it wouldn't be hard to just shove me off the road.

I am still waiting for my Kerry sticker and can't wait to proudly display it.

11. I'm driving around Mepublican central
somewhere in Texas with my "Democracy was getting old, anyway" sticker from 2000 (won't take it off until Kerry kicks monkey man out). Just put on my Take Back America sticker and my John Kerry sticker two days ago. YES! Put them on. People need to see that the support is awesome.
