Michael Moore on the censorship of his film
"I would have hoped by now that I would be able to put my work out to the public without having to experience the profound censorship obstacles I often seem to encounter.

Yesterday I was told that Disney, the studio that owns Miramax, has officially decided to prohibit our producer, Miramax, from distributing my new film, "Fahrenheit 9/11." The reason? According to today's (May 5) New York Times, it might "endanger" millions of dollars of tax breaks Disney receives from the state of Florida because the film will "anger" the Governor of Florida, Jeb Bush. The story is on page one of the Times and you can read it here:"

2. Whose anger counts here?

Several milliion Jewish people in America and world-wide were angered by Mel Gibson's film and the way that Jews were portrayed there. Their anger didn't bother anyone enough to hold the film back from release. I suppose we should have been paying someone somewhere along the way, but don't we already "own Hollywood?"

Too bad that some anger counts more than other anger.

4. Actually, Gibson didn't even try getting distribution.

Assuming everyone would shy away from The Passion of the Christ, Gibson did not even bother contacting any distributors. He found his own Icon Distribution Inc.

Don't be surprised if you see Icon end up distributing Fahrenheit 911.

3. The more the publicity, the better
You have to believe that no matter what, this film is going to get distributed. Disney is doing all it can to spread the word, albeit unwittingly. Have they not learned from the O'Reilly-Al Franken dispute?

6. I don't think its a publicity stunt
Jeb has complete control of the legislature and executive. Disney cannot afford to piss him off.
