I apologize for having to be the bearer of bad news, but i saw something on FR that made me sick to my stomach.

I was looking for a laugh on FR...before I had to hop into the shower...unfortunately, I was sick to my stomach. How dare they!

When did it happen? It didn't hear the torture/castration etc mentioned at all...and I watch every news channel EVERY NIGHT. When was this?

Sickens me, yes, but doesn't surprise me. It doesn't make our abuse right to see that we have also been victims, but Freepers are so determined to avoid any criticism of the pResident or his minions for anything that they are even willing to condone torture. Ugh.

But no, Bush starts a war for his own personal gain and these poor guys are dead in a foreign land that doesn't want them there. I agree with the Freeps on one thing, they should show these images on American TV, the people will turn on Chimpy so fast his head will spin. Killing your enemy in battle is quite different than torturing defenseless POWs. Of course, they don't get that.

I'm sorry, it's sad that they died, but there is nothing criminal about soldiers being killed in combat during a war. Especially when we're the ones who started the war.

I especially don't think they owe us an apology considering that during the invasion, hundreds of Iraqis, both soldiers and civilians, died for every one American soldier who died.

I think we were mainly upset that their pictures were actually being shown on Arab television. Nobody was supposed to see any pictures of dead Americans since it made chimpy's war look bad.

Also there was some made up propoganda that these were prisoners who had been executed, which is highly unlikely because the soldiers who survived that particular combat incident were actually taken as POW's and were treated a hell of alot better than we've been treating the Iraqi prisoners.

Anybody who thinks that Iraqi detainees deserve to be tortured because of some American soldiers getting killed in combat during a war is just plain nuts. I appreciate getting the reaffirmation that freepers are just plain nuts, although at this point I think the information is superfluous.

The complaint was that they showed the bodies on TV...

Those are pictures that were shown on Al Jazeera of some U.S. soldiers who were killed in a particular combat incident during the initial invasion phase of the war. They have been seen many places on the web.

I've seen many more pictures of dead Iraqis, mostly civilians, often women and children.

They're just doing what they always do. Trying to justify the unjustifiable. In this case they appear to be suggesting that soldiers being killed in combat-something that happens in wars-somehow justifies the violation of international law through the torture and humiliation of prisoners being kept by an occupying power.

The sad thing is that those pictures and reports of prisoner abuse are most likely to lead to even more soldiers dying.

I think we can admit that the men shown doing this are scum.

I think we can also admit that torture is horrifying.

I think we can also admit that having private mercs running US soldiers is horrifying.

I think we can admit that having US soldiers anywhere near the moral level of men who would desecrate human remains is horrifying.

That's where we are, and that's the point. "They did it too!!" is no fucking defense. We're supposed to be better, and we're not, and that's the most horrifying thing of all.

especially not to read about something that made someone sick to their stomach. But that's just me.
