Did Aaron Brown just say that there have been 3,000 military lifeflights
from Germany to the US carrying 40,000 patients? Is that number right? That's an average of 13.3 wounded per flight. Did anyone else hear this at the end of the expose' on the military Lifeflights?

1. If that is true, it is mind bloggling!
Is he saying we've had 40,000 wounded American soldiers? Or am I reading this wrong?

2. Yes, I heard that.
Why isn't anyone reporting 40,000 injured. Is this be possible?

4. Thought they were saying were saying
they needed more troops to secure the Iraq. If these numbers are true it's another VietNam meat grinder.

5. It's more than I would have guesstimated
I was estimating wounded-to-dead at about 10-to-1, so maybe 10000 wounded at most. This higher number could be due to a number of things:

* improved medical technology, allowing recovery from formerly fatal wounds
* higher distribution of body armor among frontline troops than in other conflicts
* IED attacks on vehicles result in unpredictable damage to passangers

This is mixed news for the bush administration. A dead soldier may be tragic, but he's not going to get pissed off and demonstrate in a wheelchair when his VA benefits get slashed.

6. 40,000 wounded troops?!?! I wonder how many of them die on the way
Maybe that 770 dead total might really be 3,000 dead.

7. None died enroute, Slink
That was Brown's final statement. 3000 flights 40,000 wounded and they didn't lose one patient. He was praising the doctors, nurses, and paramedics who take such good care of our wounded and try to make them as comfortable as possible.
