Was Nixon more secretive than George W Bush ?
In my opinion, Jr is worse with his secrecy fetish than was Nixon. Jr also knows how to cover his tracks better and to destroy the evidence. Nixon loved to pretend he was a CIA spook. He loved to hear about the "dirty tricks" of Donald Segretti and others. Bush, I think, also loves to pretend he knows more than anyone else. And he likes little "dirty tricks" also.

However, side by side, I would say Bush Jr is a more dangerous man than was Nixon. Junior is much more reckless with his use of power. Junior is much more likely to lie than Nixon, in my opinion. Junior also loves to use his proclaimed religion as a political tool. That was something I never remember Nxon doing. All in all, George W Bush is bigger snake.

1. Nixon was more secretive
Don't get me wrong, Bush Jr. is far worse.

The difference is, Nixon was a pathological liar. Bush Jr. really believes himself.

At least Nixon knew he was a liar. Junior doesn't even understand the difference.

5. Those are the dangerous types.
Those that believe what they lie about. Because others believe they are telling the truth. It is different when someone is lying and they know they are lying... easier to see that they are lying.

2. Bush* makes Nixon
look like an honorable man. It really is that bad. Nixon was at least intelligent and liberal in many things. I think Bush* has more people around him, the whole agenda is far more organized. His religious fanatcism really scares me. People talk to God but he blatantly says God talks to him at which point most people would be locked up.

10. That intellect was feigned............ part of a carefully
and effectively deceptive image. Most of the people posting on DU could run circles around DICK.

Most gibbon monkeys could run circles around W.

4. * is in a better made boat than Nixon was
Nixon would have given anything for a Repub congress and especially a SC that would assist him. Nixon didn't have the reach of *. That's about the only real difference. Maybe, incredibly so, Nixon had a few more scruples, but that's what brain cells will do to a person.

7. Nixon had a lot more class than Jr.

I think even Hunter Thompson would agree with that. Nixon was a vicious, calculating and intelligent deadly, poisonous snake. Yes, Nixon caused the term "stone-wall" to be incorporated into the political lexicon with his penchant for secrecy. But, even Nixon knew some boundaries.

Bush, on the other hand, has taken secrecy to the Soviet Kremlin level. He not only insists on his secrecy, he thinks that no person, not Congress, and probably not even the SCOTUS has the right to make him do othewise. They regularly miss deadlines for reporting to Congress on expendidtures and dare Congress to do anything about it. We'll see what happens with the energy task force SCOTUS case. If it goes against them, I fully expect them to defy the SCOTUS.

8. Oh HELL NO...............
Nixon may not have been very bright but at least he was savvy enough to feign intellectual curiosity. This led to an illusion of openness that was shattered.

Bush has no curiosity and the only thing he seems able to feign is "redneck wins the lottery"................ but then if you think about it......................

W's obsessive and systemic secrecy began in the birth of his presidential candidacy, if not before. It is grotesque, and it is undemocratic. It is Un-American.

9. John Dean's
book, Worse than Watergate, is a must read for those interested in comparing the two.

From the info contained in his book, Bush is far more dangerous and mentions how Nixon would be turning over in his grave re: Bush's ability to have kept certain Presidential Historical Records classified, needs to clean out a few things before public viewing..
