Most Shocking Gay Day Event Ever At Walt Disney World
Edited on Sat Aug-09-03 11:17 AM by God_bush_n_cheney
A "friend" sent this to me...after reading it...I have only one question...what was the cameraman doing at "Gay Day" at Disney? The friend who sent this to me said "This is the reason gay people will never be allowed to marry"...Excuse me? The behavior which is related to us via the story...is pretty typical IMHO...but nothing to get your panties in a bunch over. I give up! Perhaps the closet is the best place for "queers". Canada looks better all the time.

1. If that's the standard..
then we can all point to Mardi Gras and "Girls Gone Wild" for reasons why straights can't marry. Let's not even mention the 50% divorce rate.. way to go.. very dignified.

Mardi Gras to see such things. Any night down on Bourbon Street is fair game.

2. And this is different from
what you see heteros doing how? Jeeze, I've seen more just trying to park my truck in a parking lot. I do think some of this stuff should not be done in public but that goes for everyone. I have had to turn my TV channels because I refuse to watch the "Girls Gone Wild" ads with my teenage sons. What is the difference? At least they were at a place that gave them permission to congregate. Don't want to see it? Don't go.

3. Don't you think the fondeling in public went too far?
I can see the kissing and hugging, but not the fondeling. This not only applies to gays but to heteros as well, imo. I'm betting it wasn't a frequent occurance and the cameraman only caught a few incidences over the five days. But still, weren't these people in poor judgement?

8. Not really.
They were in a place that they felt safe in to express themselves. Trust me, my husband has fondeled me in public places and I have always returned the favor. The chance of getting caught always adds to the excitement. Straight sex or otherwise.

There's a pretty big gay population here in New Orleans. You don't see that kind of behavior in the grocery store or any other public place. You really only find it in the boy bars and occassionally on Bourbon Street. But in those places, although public, there's a sense of safety, that it's OK to do. And if you don't want to see it, stay away from those places.

Most people, gay or straight, maintain their sense of decorrum, but when there's an opportunity to express yourself, people do.

29. Human Experience?
There are many parts of the "human experience" that young children are not ready to view.

This isn't a gay/hetero bias, I wouldn't want my kids seeing me and their mother acting out like that, in public or in private.

Signs of love and affection are one thing, getting lusty in a parking lot -or a theme park - is another

What was done at the park was no worse than what's on network, broadcast television, day after day, night after night. It's just that it's between people of the same sex, instead of between hetero couples.

And if you have a problem with it, WHY would you go to Disney on GAY DAY???!??!!

"When did I say I had a problem with people showing affection? What I have a problem with is {gays/Negros/Jews} showing affection towards each other at the most famous children's theme park in the world where my kids can see them. That's what I have a problem with."

Oh, we must protect the children. They can see tens of thousands of murders on TV but they can't see two men kiss.

I don't understand why you don't do like racist bigots do when confronted with brown people. Wait until "they're" not looking and then tell your kids how inferior, immoral, dirty and poor "they" are. Why do you think the Baptists send a photographer to film it? To make "educational" videos to show how "immoral" homosexuality is.

Or maybe you're afraid that your children are too young to be bigots? Gotta work on that.

122. For me, at least, this is about having a little class
But for all I know, some maroon is using this to fuel his/her "homophobia."

I think it's a matter of tastefulness that transcends matters of sexual preference. If I saw a man and a woman ass groping and nipple fondling in public, I would think it extremely tacky and in poor taste. I would not want my kids subject to such stuff, and in a Disney theme park I would ask someone to tell them to get a room at the Disney Hotel, just across the street.

EVEN if the park declared "Heterosexuality Days."

This kind of behavior is NOT about love, its about sex, and displays of such in public are inappropriate. If you want to be affectionate in public then please hold hands, hug, stare into each other's eyes, kiss each other! Most people have no problem with that.

I don't give a damn what they show on TV (don't watch it), or what people do in the privacy of their rooms (dont watch that, either). I care what people do in public, especially in a forum where I had to pay to enter.

I really have to ask you this: Is THIS what GAY DAYS is all about? In your face sexuality? Isn't there anything else to having a homosexual relationship? Don't the majority of homosexuals feel that their sexuality is only one aspect of their life, maybe not even the defining aspect?

Ans why WOULD I go to Disney Land/World on Gay Day? What if I wanted to show my support to Disney's progressive stance by adding to their box office take on Gay Day? Do I have to subject my family to such a tacky display? Is that what you're saying?

44. But isn't this whole thing about acceptance of gays?
There probably were kids in the park, but there's no way to say for sure. If you were gay and were constantly fighting for the right to be accepted in our society as an equal, why would you participate in that kind of behavior in public? Again, I'm not talking about hugging and kissing, I'm talking about the fondeling. Now there's going to be this video out there that is going to work against everything gays are fighting for. And I ask again, wasn't this in poor judgement?

I know this is true even with no source.
At gay pride in D.C. in '93, we had close to a million people. Sad to say, but most of us were unspectacular folks dressed in shorts and T-shirts. Normal average "normally" dressed people. But what group made it onto the news and onto the front page of my hometown paper? You guessed it...The Radical Fairies. Out of a million people, a group of less than 100 were picked not accidentally to represent the rest of us decidedly unspectacular folks. This is not a slam at all on the Fairies; I just had to laugh that they purposely avoided capturing all the joe and jill averages on film and went for the one group that they felt would suit the purpose of defaming gays.

I personally think the man who filmed this probably sits home and wanks off to his own little gay day soft-porn film. If the truth be told, I am sure thats why he was so drawn to this whole topic. The truth will COME OUT some day, if he's lucky.

71. I guess I'm old fashioned.
When my kids were young, I brought them to amusement parks to go on the rides and have a good time.

If then was now, I wouldn't bring them to a park on a day that was celebrating sexuality (homo or hetero). Let kids be kids, they'll grow up soon enough.

If there were kids there, the "poor judgement" was by the parents.

117. All right already

OK FOLKS--- As someone who's been to GayDays repeatedly

The event taped was at the dance club on Pleasure Island....
"Pleasure Island" named by DISNEY!

To get on Pleasure Island you have to show friggin ID

The clubs are open at night mostly

Kids are not allowed there (Is this clear enough--or do I need to put all caps)

Anyone who has been to a club (gay or straight) can see people getting their freak on on the dance floor anywhere in the country -- including Disney.

NOW--

Will all the "will someone please think of the children" brigade please look at the facts of the situation before they get their knickers in an unholy twist over the issue.

Repeat: Kids are not even allowed in these venues!

This ignorance and "judge first, look at the facts later" knee jerk reaction is what is wrong with this whole issue.

BTW--- to the person who mentioned the "Girls gone wild" videos--

I agree--those are quite vile, filled w/ would be strippers (i.e. "ringers")-- they've been under investigation for fraud etc.

And yet-- they and "Married by America" (such a wonderful tribute to marriage there....) are trumpeted on TV

And you wonder why I'm seething at the misguided moralism...

121. I mentioned the "Girls gone wild" video.
Mostly I was saying if we use the actions of those kids to decide whether heterosexuals should be "allowed" to marry, then heterosexual marriage would be on the chopping block!

And even if most of the girls are not underage, they are college students who have been sheltered for most of their lives and for some reason seem unable to fathom the far-reaching consequences of their actions.

This is just another manifestation of attacks on people who dare to be individuals. We live in such a conformist society that people seem to believe any deviation from what is considered the norm is some kind of deviant behavior. Since it is the norm to marry, it is ok to make marriage into entertainment - "Married by America." Since straight men like breasts, it is ok for very young women to be filmed showing their breasts - "Girls Gone Wild".

Edited on Sat Aug-09-03 02:46 PM by TLM

The gay day at disney is a day the park is closed, save for those who are part of gay day.

Add to that the fact that they were not out in the park, but were in a nightclub that is attached to part of the park.

This is a bunch of homophobic crap.

Maybe if we were not so damn puritain about sex, we would not be living in a country so filled with sexual disfunction.

WAY too many peole are hellbent on making sure our kids never see any examples of people showing sexual affection towards each other... we demonize sex, make it into someting dirty that should be hidden away... then we wonder why we end up with a population of sexual retards.

GayDay or no:

After 7 PM, no one under eighteen is permitted on Downtown Disney® Pleasure Island or inside the clubs without an accompanying adult, except in Mannequins Dance Palace and BET SoundStage Club, which prohibit anyone under the age of twenty-one. Visitors over eighteen need a picture ID (valid passport, U.S. driver's license, or foreign driver's license with a backup ID).

"Why would a children's theme park have a day based on a sexual preferance?"

Frankly, because we're tired of being shot at. Or called "faggot". Or beaten. Or spit at. Or just because we'd like to walk down Disney's Mainstreet holding the hand of our partner just like every other HETERO.

I've just spent the last two days cleaning up from some bigoted asshole who's shot the back window out of our jeep and then came back the next day and shot two holes in our house windows. Why? Because we fly a Pride Flag.

That's why there's a Gay Day at most theme parks.

God can't a person make an honest hate-mongering homophobic attack on us queers without also resorting to attacking athiests and vegitarians too? Listen, Brother or Sister Fox, let me tell you that EVERYDAY is "hetro" day. Everyday is spent wondering when some right wing bigot is going to attack you. Every day is spent wondering when some homophobe like you is going to legislate us gay people back to prison.

And another thing that pushes my buttons is the term "sexual preference." I am the way I am because of genetics, biology, and probably some socialization. I prefer pears to peaches. Preference plays no role in who I am sexually attracted to.

So a well meaning company throws the fags and dykes a scrap. Whats it to you? Stay home and read your Bible. Stay out of the park on Gay Day. We might turn your kids queer. Or give you queer cooties. Or whatever it is homophobes are so dang afraid of. SHEESH.

120. Sorry--but that's incorrect
Anyone can go to Disney on GayDays-- the park is not closed, nor does Disney officially sponsor GayDays

They simply allow it to take place (it's a grassroots movement that has expanded over the years)

Disney will, however

1) Escort people out of the park who break the rules (same as everyother damn day of the year)
2) Escort people out of the park improperly attired (same as everyother damn day of the year)
3) Escort people out of the park who preach/protest etc. (same as everyother damn day of the year)

Disney does let folks know when GayDays is taking place

When we go--we see groups from all over the place there--many of whom are not GLBT

The article gives the impression that this is just out in the open. It's not. Mannequins is an over 21 nightclub at Pleasure Island (where the other clubs are 18+). I'm straight, but this doesn't bother me. I've been to straight clubs and have seen topless women. Didn't bother me one bit. Call me crazy, but I kinda liked it.

You have to pay a small fortune to set foot in the place, and for these events, the entire park is set aside, is it not? Therefore, it's not a public place.

32. Those verses were almost my thesis topic
and they may end up somehow in my dissertation when the timecomes. Whoever sent you that sent you a very conservative translation of those verses. The word (yes word!) for "abusers of themselves with mankind" translates to English as "man bedder." The word may well have been Paul's invention, because it occurs first in Paul. Sometimes it is translated as "homosexual," which means that Paul would have to be privy to the term "homosexual," which did not exist. The other fun word there, "effeminate," reads "soft one" and could refer to any man, including a man who was too horny for WOMEN. Funny how it also says "fornicators" and "adulterers" in that verse but they are never singled out.

many of us know what is behind some of these behaviors. the decades old requirement of secrecy. so now that GLB love is out of the closet, some feel it needs to bring in allll the way out.

it's not nice to impose your sezual play on anyone's kids or anyone period.

lest our kids grow up thinking sex is something normal and natural instead of something sick and dirty and wrong that should be hidden away.

And one more time... there are no kids in the park on gay day. There are no kids in the NIGHTCLUB attached to pleasure island.

It is not like there was hot man on man ass sex taking place at the turnstyle.

85. what park are we talking about?
i've been to day gay at the florida park. years ago, granted, but there were kids there. it wasn't closed to the general public. has this changed?

if this stuff happened inside a club, well then big whoop. that isn't public in the same way, as there is an age limit. there is a lot more than groping that goes on in clubs..stright or gay.

my point and objection is related purely to the park. i would not presume to imject my sexuality onto other people's kids. children's introduction into sexual awarness is the perview of their parents. i don't care if it's gay or straight.

it was bad behavior, but not because it was "gay" people, but because it was public leudness (sp?) ANY couple, gay or not, simulating sex acts, grabbing each other in public, and other leud behavoir has no place in public areas. Take it to the bedroom, I don't want to see it.

My philosophy is you are free to do what you want in the privacy of your own home, but keep it in the home and be respectful of others outside your home

18. So no one should have to see this behavior
but this guy purposely went to Disney World, fought for the right to film it, and is taking the video back to be copied and sent out to churches?

Look, everyone has his own views on public displays of affection, whether between heterosexuals or gays. He knew what he was going to see before he went. If is offends him so much, why not stay away? Why don't all parents who don't want their kids to see too much sexual behavior in public just stay away during the gay celebration?

Seems to me that you should use the same common sense you use in not taking your kids to a honeymoon resort. There are a bazillion kid-friendly places you can go. And there are 51 other weeks to go to Disney.

23. The reason why we're not allowed to marry is because of
people who disallow us to, make bigoted remaks, and say we're incapable of marriage.

The article mentions "topless homosexuals". Must be female then? What are they implying? Heterosexal men go around topless, too.

Of course, I think it's unevolved for people to feel each other up in public. It's unevolved when heteros do it too, so why should I stick up for homosexual men who do it? I'm not much for public displays of affection.

Some men are sleaze or whatever and that's fine. But it's still wrong to lump everybody into a stereotpyed group just for the actions of a few.

I wonder what this writer person would say if he went to a public place and noticed lots of men fondling their womens' behinds and boobs and kissing and such? I see heteros do it all the time and it's as filthy as everything that writer pointed out.

And if it's so sickening and evil, why was he even there?

Except for maybe republicans when it comes to stereotyping. Their ideals all conflict with each other anyway.

Keep in mind this article says all this took place in a night club on the Disney property, not in the theme park itself. I doubt this writer has ever been to a dance club full of young folks if they find all this shocking. I agree with those above who said everyone should refrain from the groin-fondling and all in public, whatever their sexual orientation. Still, dude should go hang out in Buckhead (ATL) on some Saturday if he finds all this shocking.

26. HAHA! Awww, the poor babies
Hey, our society isn't as accepting as it should be to homosexuality. That leads to a lot of pent up frustration that can overflow, if you'll pardon the pun, at an event embracing said sexuality. People are expected to stretch a little after being pent up in a car on the road all day, it's the same principle here. It's an understandable and natural behavior. I can sympathize, when I finally get to see my kitten after 3 months I'm going to do a lot more in public than twist a little nipple or grab a little ass. It'll be discreet but it'll still be in public.

When distinguishable, I wonder what sexuality gets arrested for public lewdness more often. I bet I know.

The writer of the article is obsessed with topless men, especially ones that play with each other's nipples. I mean, of all the charges in the article, the topless men one is the most baseless attack, but it is mentioned at least TWICE! What is the deal with that? I think the guy that wrote that article "has just a little sugar in him," and that he wishes that he too were topless and playing with some guy's nipples. My advices to him is:

Gay Day Organizers note: The scenes depicted are from an impromptu additional performance put on by the Mannequins Dancers during the "Night of Pleasure" event on Pleasure Island at Mannequins Dance Palace on Saturday, June 5, 1999. Anyone familiar with Mannequins Dance Palace would recognize that the only difference in this performance versus performances every other day of the year are that two men were involved instead of two men and two women, paired off one man to one woman. (more)

BTW, Disney says Mannequins club is 21 and over only. No Kids.

56. just another wannabe pornographer
another example of how the real perverts are the sexually repressed. Mr. Mawyer sure likes that "dirty-talk". I do believe someone's looking for a spanking. Nipples and butts and groins, oh my.

After the initial series of threats, Disney officials finally left Mr. Mawyer alone and allowed him to film.

“It’s absolutely impossible to describe the depth of depravity we saw. Not only did we see men kissing men, but these shirtless homosexuals were twisting the nipples of each other and fondling the butts and groins of their ‘lovers’. And all this occurred right out in the open at a Disney theme park,” Mr. Mawyer said.

Mr. Mawyer will now take his video and film footage back to Virginia where it will be edited and distributed to the Southern Baptist Convention, churches, Disney shareholders, public opinion leaders and the media.

Mr. Mawyer will now take his video and film footage (wow, he's got 2 cameras, in case one gets a hole in it, what with all the rewinding and fast-forwarding that must be going on back in Virginia).

Mr. Mawyer better watch that distributing though. I hear Ashcroft isn't so keen on sending video about nipple-twisters through the U.S. mail.

These christians should go back to eating Christ's flesh and drinking his blood, and think about who's the one who's really sick.

81. says who? People have been honeymooning there for years.
They have had adult nightclubs there since at least the 1970's because I can remember some of our childless neighbors talking about them.

It's a private company. They can target whatever market they want. Quite frankly, I'd prefer they target adults who should be able to think for themselves than contantly bombard children with their images on everything from Happy Meals to toothbrushes.

93. I do not have a backwards view. I am being realistic because
I live in a country that is completely dominated by big business. If Disney World wants to attract adults to their theme parks, that is their decision. Just because some people think Disney World is for kids, doesn't make it so. Why do you think Disney World must be for children just because you say it is? That is pretty backwards, if you ask me.

97. now you're just being ridiculous. It is about money.
Walt Disney wants to make a lot of money. Gay people tend to have pretty high disposable incomes. Hence, Disney World would like to have them as visitors to their theme parks.

And, once again, WHY would they have NIGHT CLUBS if they weren't trying to attract adults and, to some extent, CHILDLESS adults, since most people from outside of Florida don't have a babysitter handy in the Orlando area.

160. Yep, all kids-only theme parks need bars and nightclubs
Tell me why you need numerous 18 and 21+ nightclubs on the property that are open till well past midnight, if this is a kids-only themepark? That's like saying that, because there are video arcades and toy stores in a mall, the entire mall must be devoted to kids! Disney is HUGE; there is room for different parts of the park to cater to different markets of people.

Plus, why is it so hard for people to understand this was mainly AT NIGHT, and IN A 21+ NIGHTCLUB?!?!?! How many 10-yr olds do you think saw this behavior at 11pm at night in a club that cards?

I mean fondeling and having sex in public would be going a little far, but I'd say that even if they weren't gay. I mean, is it just the sex thing bothering you, or is it them actually being gay? I mean, gay pride isn't about sex, it's about devotion to someone you love, why is that inappropriate for kids?

after a long long dissertation on who should and should not marry and the consequences of divorce. Jesus states

"Matthew 19:12
For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it."

He is talking about Male Female Marriage (it) there folks.

any mixed fibers? If so...your going to hell...that is also in levitical law. leviticus states...you also should offer a "burnt offering up to the lord"...Do you practice that is your back yard?

Additionally you might want to read chapter 15 in leviticus to learn how to handle your wife during her period. She is unclean and must be set apart...I best that pisses her off when you do that though.

If you expect me to live by Levitical law...you had better brush up on it yourself and get busy building an altar "unto the Lord"

I do not know who wrote Leviticus, but I presume it was Moses. Why should I care what he said? He was just a person.

And the same goes for Paul....

Besides that, I am pretty certain that Reform Judaism does NOT condemn homosexuality, or even spread hate against it. I would assume that THEY know more about what Leviticus means, that we do.

and thanks so much for showing "us" all how "you" really feel. separate but equal must be right up your alley.

151. Do you want websters...
definition? Of course I know what it is...sheez. The idea of "homosexuality" was not a term used in 1st century Judea...Therefore I submit when Jesus talks of enuchs...He is talking in a term his peers would understand...

"The reason why some people now accuse exclusively homosexual men of being sodomites is that, over time, the ancient, even primeval distinction between types of men, based on the presence or absence of heterosexual arousal in them, has been deliberately erased by patriarchal religious leaders. This erasure actually began with the emergence of rational scientific philosophy, but reached a critical turning point in the writings of the "fathers of the church", who were claiming to emulate a heterosexually abstinent role model, Jesus, at a time when absolute abstinence from heterosexuality traditionally implied queerness as well as spiritual holiness. In order to lay claim to the holiness of abstinence while escaping the queerness of it, church leaders declared the greater virtue of their strong, manly abstinence based on will power as opposed to the abstinence of holy eunuchs based on their natural inclination. Since even willed abstinence from heterosexuality laid church leaders open to the social shame of being called eunuchs and non-males, they used their influence to promote the view of maleness as an anatomical characteristic alone, and they redefined "eunuchs", whether "born so" or man-made, as those who lacked reproductive organs. Once redefined as males, exclusive, innate homosexuals became fair game for prosecution as sodomites, because they were subjecting their "male bodies" to sexual penetration."

If you are giving your kids one book as a guideline for living, isn't that enough? There's not too far they can stray if you are only using that parameter. I mean, don't you at some point have to teach them that even though you believe in the Bible, some people do not and their lives and behaviors reflect that?

Actually, this is a little hypothetical for me because I think there's a lot in the Bible that is ambiguous and is open to interpretation. But if I didn't, it seems like it would be quite easy to tell my kids this is how it is and that's that.

111. If that's the way you feel...
...then I guess you shouldn't bring your children to adult gay nightclubs. Nor to adult gay nightclubs at theme parks. OK?

While we're educating you, might I also suggest you not take your children to Caesar's Palace. Take 'em to a football game or a boxing match or one of those drag races where some guy sometimes crashes and blows himself to smithereens. Yeah, something healthy and nurturing like that. DON'T under any circumstances let your kids see guys KISSING!

But just because you don't want to take your children to these adult party places like Gay Day at Disney or Caesar's Palace, I hope you don't mind if they stay in operation. Pretty please?

And will you please stop harping that it's a KIDS' park already. Read the other posts where it's pointed out that: (1) This was GAY DAY at Disney World, when it's closed except for people who WANT to go to Gay Day. This means that, in a sense, on these days Disney is NOT quite a kids' park. (2) The scandalous, non-"healthy", non-"nurturing" acts in question took place in NIGHT CLUBS where persons under 18 or 21 were PROHIBITED. So will you please stop saying this happened in a KIDS' PARK? Can you READ? It happened on an "ADULT" day in a NIGHT CLUB. OK?

PS - When I was a kid, I was gay also. It would have been quite "healthy" and "nurturing" for me to have seen 2 men kissing back then. Also note that many psychologists estimate that a significant percentage of teen suicide attempts are done by gay kids who are in the closet. So just because you want to prevent YOUR kids from seeing what you don't consider to be "healthy" or "nurturing" acts, doesn't mean that you have the right to impose this narrow viewpoint on everybody else.

Straight people kiss and fondle a lot in public and in the media and don't get crap for doing it. ALL ANIMAL SPECIES also have gay members as well (look up Bruce Bagemihl on Amazon for the zoology book covering this). What's good for the goose is good for the gander!

that's the thing that'll get me in a nasty mood faster than anything. the not-so-subtle association with gay and child molestation. that there should be "gay-free" zones for children. how about "retard-free" or "chinese-free" zones as well, after all- we wouldn't want to disturb a little kids fallacious view given to them by bigoted parents that the world is made up of straight, non-sexual "normal" people.

read a book, Fox, or better yet review disney's advertising for the last 20 years. if you want to take you kid to a gay-free, sex-free, stepford wife approved park in america, i'm pretty sure pat robertson has spent some of jesus' money to entertain you.

116. Please somebody, bring back the communists, quick!!
There's nobody left to demonize and the fundies are coming after us.

I bet they're pissed at Bush, they can't demonize Islam because of the Iraq invasion, the WMD lies are biting the dust so they have to keep putting out the spin that this war was a humanitarian effort, which renders them completely unable to say much about the "religion of hatred" (Franklin Graham) without looking unpatriotic. So we queers are gonna pay the price.

Man, you can't turn on the t.v. without seeing gratutious displays of hetersexuality, and yet I'm not whining. Fifth wheel, Love Cruise, Paradise Hotel, Big Brother, Temptation Island, Blind Date, Elimidate, Joe Millionaire, The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, etc ad nausem, not to mention the festivals like Mardi Gras and any beach during spring break, which ties into Girls Gone Wild.

I think it is sad that people are projecting their prejudices toward homosexuality onto children. Children are affectionate by nature and do not find affection between adults of the same sex offensive or weird, that is a LEARNED mental construct, children don't have it until they are taught this bigotry. Gratuitious sexual displays shouldn't happen in front of children, and they did not with regards to the topic, as people keep repeating, it was a nightclub with a minimum age of 21.

Odd I don't hear folks saying they won't let their kids watch sports because the athletes slap each other on the butt, or that their children run screaming from the room whenever they see men from some cultures kiss each other on the cheek in greeting.

many parents of pre-school aged children are. They seem to think their child (usually a son) can "turn gay" at the slightest interest in something traditionally labeled as feminine. (Not so much with girls, but I'm sure they get the messages through to them in some insidious way.)

133. That is so sickeningly narcissistic.
"Anything that is about my child is about me, and not about the unique wonderful individual being that my child is."

I think that that in itself is why there is so much war-mongering in the world, men keep having to overstate their masculinity for fear of revealing HUMAN emotions and characteristics that have been labeled by tradition as feminine.

"Yeah, God, I ended up blowing up the whole world just to prove I wasn't a fag."

Is this where we are headed?

135. narcissistic!
Now THAT'S the word I've been missing when I have arguments about how so many people have children for selfish reasons! It seems, after you have a child you are never selfish because everything you do is for the "good of the child"!

Ah, but the word narcissistic! That says it all!

(And, to some extent, I suppose it's natural if you look on having children as a way to sustain a gene pool, but it just seems we should be beyond all that by now!)

144. As far as sustaining the gene pool goes, it'll be
interesting to see what happens once human cloning is possible.

The true narcissists will have a field day! Mini-me's for every one!

162. Idea
If it's so lurid and "disgusting" as they say, why not sell the tapes to a prono company. They could make a lot of money that way.
