We have been holding a weekly vigil at Halliburton since the 15th of April. On that day there were numerous speakers and we had a local political band that came and entertained the crowd.
I am helping coordinate this weekly event, I really would love to see some DU'ers come join us. It is from 4:30 to 6:30pm on every Friday at Halliburton in Carrollton. Belt Line and Webb Chapel.
The band is coming back on Friday the 7th, the name of the band is Halliburton(s). They are VERY good. Worth the trip alone.
" While most bands try for a record deal, the Halliburton(s) are trying for a new leader of the Free World. Join Halliburton(s) songwriter Nathan Berg in singing the anthem from the new single,
“Lick Bush”:
Throw that Bush crew out the back door Singing a new song into ’04!
With lyrics on Iraq, tax cuts, health care, joblessness, and corporate sleaze, Berg’s latest collection of songs communicates a provocative and inspiring brand of patriotism that doesn’t hesitate to confront real-world problems. Berg’s songs celebrate liberty by questioning the rules that shape the economic lives of contemporary Americans. A blend of critique and beat, both ‘in your brain’ and ‘in your booty,’ Berg’s sound impassions music fans, aiming to help get out the vote in the 2004 elections and beyond.
Berg is former bassist with Maynard Ferguson Big Bop Nouveau, a veteran of two world tours, and featured soloist on Maynard Ferguson: Live from London (Avenue Jazz) recorded at Ronnie Scott’s Club in London, one of the premier jazz venues in the world. At age 15, Berg attended the music program at University of North Texas (of Norah Jones fame) before moving to New York City and performing with jazz greats John Scofield, Clark Terry, Terrance Blanchard, Stephen Scott and JJ Johnson. Berg also backed show biz legends Steve Allen, Shirley Jones and Bernadette Peters."
Please send this to anyone you know in Dallas. Help me help us in Dallas make a major stand against war profiteering.
I need the DFW DU'ers. Come help make a stand.
