3. Retired General Barry McCaffrey also called for Rummy's resignation this
a.m. Of all the Retired General Pundits he seemed to be the most supportive of Bush. I was really shocked!

4. Good for Nancy!
Now who will ask for Bush to resign? While we are at it, who will ask for Cheney to resign. Keep the ball rolling :-)

6. Resign because?
Edited on Thu May-06-04 11:23 AM by Imalittleteapot
Is the issue that he didn't tell Congress or the President (which I don't believe) or that he allowed the torture to happen? Or both?

He and the entire bunch should resign for everything they have done to get our country into the whole debacle and everything they haven't done to fix the problems.

Go Nancy.

11. because someone has to take a fall for this....commander-in-chief

bush* is trying to weasel his way out of it...to get his Weapons-of-Mass-Destruction info out of any Iraqis....bush* set up a systematic sex-torture snuff operation...with frequent visits to the prison by bush* underlings, wolfowitz and rumsfeld under orders by CIC bush*....

Have YOU written to YOUR congressional reps today????

13. You can't fire him for 'allowing the torture to happen'
I mean, my God, how can one guy over here be responsible for every action of ever soldier.

And another thing...I don't see what good it does to wring your hands and fess up to these actions as soon as you know them. In what way would that have helped our standing among Iraqis? It's sort of like telling your wife you've had an affair. Is that really the wisest thing to do? Sure, the hand-wringing might make us feel better temporarily, but how does it help the overall situation?

What you do is...correct the problem and make sure it doesn't happen again. And even though folks haven't been perfect, I believe that is what is being done.

14. Someone high up MUST take responsibility
in order to protect America from even more terrorists.

Remember when Rumsfeld fired the general who said that the U.S. would need thousands of soldiers for years if we were going to invade Iraq?

Well, Rumsfeld should live by the same rules. The general was right. Rumsfeld was wrong. We can't rehire the general, but we can get rid of the man who got Iraq so wrong that our soldiers have died unnecesarrily.
