AP-1970s FBI File Pegs Kerry As Moderate
Not posted in LBN because I don't consider this Latest Breaking.
This is old news, but half the country thinks that Kerry was some kind of radical back then.

Read and rate.

By CALVIN WOODWARD, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - The FBI (news - web sites), closely tracking the anti-war movement in the 1970s, concluded John Kerry (news - web sites) was a glib, moderate figure in a Vietnam veterans group that took a radical turn around the time he left it, documents show.

1. If we can keep finding
all this information on Kerry during the 70's...then why can't we find anything about * during the same time?

3. heheh....great question.
Kerry believed in nonviolence to end the war. Nixon operatives infiltrated the VVAW to incite violent measures, thereby discrediting the group. That was when Kerry and others left.

2. The title is misleading. He was "Moderate among Veteran's Groups" but
one should also remember that it was J. Edgar Hoover's FBI who wrote that report about "subversive, commie leaning veterans." The FBI went after the whole anti-war movement and wrongfully investigated and accused many people of activities and associations which were not true.

Do a Google on Hoover. He was not a nice man. And, he saw Communists under every bed. You don't like Asscroft? Well Hoover was very much like him. Always investigating any and everyone he didn't like. His influence overshadowed the FBI for decades.

And, Nixon hated the anti-war activists. So, it's fine that Kerry was seen as a "moderate" but he wasn't the only one in that group who was "moderate."
