Mc Clintock Being Urged to Drop Out By Issa
I just heard on the radio the Darrel"car thief" Issa is urging Tom McClintock to drop out of the Gov. race. He says that McClintock running will interfere with a repuke getting elected. While this is true, I think there is more going on here than that. I think they really are trying to push Arnold's rising star into the Governor's office, but, failing that, is it possible that when the dirt about Arnold comes out, that a lot of repukes will vote for the incompetent RWer Simon and sneak him into Sacramento while everybody is foruced on the media star Arnold?

We all know how the Rwers love their do overs( Texas redistricting, , the California recall itself, B-1 Bob Dornan's election callenges, etc.)
Do you think they might be using Arnold as a smokescreen to get Simon in?

1. Interesting
Maybe Simon and Issa have an arrangement of some kind. I don't know.

But I do know that Issa was pushed out by the White House. Okay--I take that back. I can reasonably assume that the White House, RNC, or some other high level Republican pushed Issa out of the race.

However, McClintock came the closest to winning statewide office last year. He only lost to Steve Westley by 16,000 votes.

I really don't know what to think of this.

2. the plot certainly thickens
I agree the WH pushed him out. But I also think the wh or RNC lured him into investing the bucks in the recall effort to begin with.

Thus his now playing waterboy when two days ago he tearfully got out (and lost his investment) - is very interesting.

Did they promise him the backing for the senate? Are they now telling him that support is only contingent upon a repub win - so get competitors out of the race?

Is he such a fool to believe them after he was used much as Michael Huffington was in 1994?

4. Who knows?
I do think that Issa was bullied out. And I do think that MAYBE he and Simon might have an arrangement of some kind. Which I find weird, because McClintock was the best performing GOP candidate in California in 2002--he came just short of beating Steve Westley for Controller, losing by only 16,000 votes.

I do think, though, that Issa has an axe to grind. But the plot does thicken.

7. Well
At the ceremony where Arnold filed there were people raising "Simon for Governor" signs.

3. The more Repugs on the Ballot...
the better. This way we split the vote on their side and it will GREATLY ASSIST us in the event that the recal does succeed!

5. I think you give them to much credit
the math favors Bustamante. I really do not know about McClintock's politics but the hardcore repukes are going to split between Simon and McClintock. They are not going to vote for Arnold.

Issa Probably was told that they can not win with four Repukes in the campaign.

My guess is that if McCLintock jumps out so will Garimendi so it will be a wash.

9. The Problem
as I see it is that a lot of people know Simon and a lot of people voted for Simon in the last election.
The message to Californians that is being spread 24/7 is that we made a mistake in electing Davis last time. The most immediate solution to that is to elect the guy he was running against. It seems, of the surface, logical. Davis only beat Simon by five percent. Since Simon does not need to get a majority, but merely a bigger share of the split in the recall, it makes the situation dangerous.

I have to go to work now, so I hope the lack of further responses from me is not taken as an indication that I am not interested in the responses given to this topic. I hope it is still here when I get home tonight. Have a good day everybody!!!
