Kyl (R-AZ)on C-Span2: We most certainly are not losing the war.
Edited on Thu May-06-04 02:56 PM by LittleApple81
Saying that gives encouragement to the enemy. What would poor little Negroponte think he is being sent to if we say that?

WE (remember Tonto? who are "we" White man?") are in this war, he says.

We cannot say negative things because we are sending this message to the enemy.

"We will have Peace with Honor!"

4. Iraq has the Tigris and Euphrates, "we" got denial.
The war is lost. Serves us right, too. It was an exercise in futility the very moment the first bomb fell.

How's that for "encouragement to the enemy?"
(And just when did the Iraqi people become our enemy? I thought we were liberating them...)

6. Now BROWNBACK (my senator, boohoo). NEGROPONTE
is wonderful, wonderful. He talked to soldiers in Iraq: glowing about schools, open democratic Iraq.
Problems, difficulties, people dead, giving their lives for freedom for people in Iraq and security of America.
I have heard his house payments are subsidized by fundie groups.

11. Brownback (Thumper-KS)
"This great cause, this worthy cause"....what a tool.

He mentions in passing the Kansans who have died in this debacle, then praises the mess. Now he's using a dead Kansas soldier to support the administration - I swear, these people are shameless.

15. Who does he think he's fooling? Last week was the last straw.
In this kind of war, victory cannot happen by devastating the land and the people you are trying to help.

Military battles don't mean squat if the people you are trying to help don't support you.
Military victory cannot exist without political victory.
And * irretrievably lost the political part of the war last week, with regard to the peoples of the ME.

"...we're fighting in a war we lost before that war began,
we're the white boots marching in a yellow land"
- Phil Ochs
