Any comments from McCain, Johnson, or other POW's about torture?
Did they experience similar treatment when they were POWs? They probably experienced much worse, but it would be informative to know just how much it is or is not being minimized. Don't you agree?

1. McCain never talks about his torture.
I read all about it however, in a book about the Vietnam POWs.

What was done in Iraq would be considered abuse, if you compare the torture in Vietnam. McCain cannot raise his arms up; he needs some help getting dressed. They pulled their arms back & then hung them suspended that way, for hours & days. McCain also walks with a limp.
And he almost died in captivity several times.

Also, many POWs died in captivity; the food was almost non existent.

There are many good books out there on Vietnam POWs.

The Iraq situation is a disgrace to our country. McCain was one of the 1st to speak out about it. He will be on the Senate Armed Services Committee tomorrow, when Rumsfeld testifies, & expect McCain to be harsh. Because of his service, he holds them to a higher standard than the chickenhawk Repubs.

3. Did he say things about it in his book?
I recall reading some place about his arms and he still has trouble with them.I think they used to hang these men up by their arms.

4. That is not true!
He is pissed as hell, & has been all over TV speaking out.

Why do people on this board just throw out statements that are not true?

I watch as many hearings on C-Span as I can, & he has been HARDER on Rumsfeld than most Dems.
