Rep from Calif says CNN, MSNBC & Fox was notified of torture

on Janyary 14th in the early briefing. This was Rep. Duncan Hunter R-Cal. Does any of you remember hearing this?

It seems that of the 435 members of Congress, he seems to be the only one who heard this!

I don't remember anything about it either, and I watch CNN and MSNBC a lot!

heard such a thing either..and I always watch CNN at least till just the last couple of weeks when it got so slanted I couldn't stomach it anymore. I heard the claim on C-Span today. :crazy:

It was announced to the press back on Jan 16th in Baghdad but without pictures it got a "ho hum". 5 months later with picture it is "Oh god!"

Hunter was point man for defending the indefensible. His tactic? Obscuring when and who knew what and where. His prop? What you cited above. As Steny Hoyer let loose after being shunned by this turd, if it was said so publicly, why wasn't there the outrage at that time...by the REPUGNICANS.

This is all CYA. They can't address the fundamental issues of the invasion and now must distort as their only defense. Pitiful!

I'm ashamed to say that the Pubs are much better at dropping blame on people....even when it's not deserved. Why dan't the Dems do it when it's TRUE?

We've been bashed and demonized so much in the past decade by the flying monkeys that it's hard to get a coherant message out without it being immediately pounced on and distorted.

I've heard the argument that Democrats are too sophisticated to "lower themselves" into name-calling and matching lies with lies. I tend to think it's a degree of both laziness and our own arrogance. For many years we waived off the right wing nuts as noise that didn't pose a threat until not only was the elephant in the tent, it was sitting on our throats. First step back is reaffirming we have truth and morals on our side, then its working together on overthrowing this regime and working on the many messes that will be left over.

We need more Kennedy's and Biden's, to take hold of the mike and do some yelling. I don't accept the fact that we're in the minority. It might hamper being able to set the agenda, and get laws passed, but it doesn't tape your mouth! Plus the media loves reporting stuff like that so we'd get the coverage too.

Kennedy & Biden have taken the mike...they're just never heard or what they say is chopped up in the hash that is today's 24/7 newscycle.

I've been a strong advocate to put a lot of Democratic resources into Congresional races this year, as retaking the house is our greatest safe guard on the liberties we still have left and one hell of a a block if this regime steals the election again. There are some great local Democrats (and we see them here on DU) that are the real voices that need to be heard and we should help them wherever possible. Obviously checkbooks is a good start right now. Other creative venues along the way couldn't hurt either.

I watched that exchange on CSPAN. This administration obviously had the real story about the prison abuses and chose to cover it up from Congress. So did the military. So did the Press. All 3 are complicit in hiding the truth from the American people.

If they'll do it on a problem like this, what else is being kept from Congress?

I am going to send an email to CNN, MSNBC & Fox (I guess) asking where they were when they got this information in January. If we all do the same, it can't hurt! I have to believe they are't feeling too proud of themselves now for having missed this and having to broadcast their failure.
