Well, not really. But reading some of the threads on here might lead one to believe so.

Lets set the record straight, shall we?

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/Presidential_Tracking_Poll.htm
Kerry 45% Bush 45% May 6th

http://www.gallup.com/
Bush Approval on Iraq, Economy, and Terrorism at Low Points May 6th

http://www.zogby.com/

So basically we have a traditionaly conservative polling place putting the race at 50/50. We have both Gallup and Zogby reporting that Bush's approval and the general mood of the country is at an all-time low.

Bush just spent 60 million dollars, this is what he got? 50-50 with all-time low approval ratings?

But some on here still say we're losing. I have a thought on this matter. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

1. Kerry has been quiet.
Quietly letting Bush self destruct.

I can't fault anything Kerry's done.
The beauty of it all is that he has risen mainly on positives.
We're in great shape.

2. You can't fault not having an Ohio director?
I seriously mean that. Over and over we hear that Ohio is the new Florida, we had a March primary so he cleary must have had someone n charge, yet here we are in May and no director.

8. Then why, when his campaign was told they didn't have one
last week did they not say here she is. The quote from his campaign was that he would soon have one.

6. Kerry's right there and he hasn't even DONE anything yet....
Lots of people are screaming about the Kerry camp not "defining" their message yet. They have no positions, they all cry. How then, I ask, can he be running this close with an incumbent president with the largest war chest ever....in a time of national crisis. It's a testament to the ineptitude of the shrub.

Oh yeah, and don't forget....we haven't even had a single debate yet. I don't want to see or hear complacency from anyone, but I've gotta believe that this is in the bag! The cracks in the Bushco facade appear to be growing wider with each passing day.

Someone alert the people in the village of Crawford, Texas that their idiot is on his way home.

9. Just keep in mind...
that it's Bush/Cheney that has spent all the money and are still in a dead heat with 6 months (read - eternity) to go. Kerry hasn't announced his VP choice yet. I think that it will be very different after that, depending on who he selects. I hear Phil Bredesen, Gov. of TN has been mentioned in circles as a possible...

12. Polls don't mean a thing right now.
Bush and company are self destructing. They have been for three years but the public is finally catching up. Kerry needs to stay positive right now. I like his new ads. They are a stark contrast to the all bush all negative all the time in both news and campaign.

As the evidence of widespread abuse in Iraq starts to unfold look for the fallout of the bush administration.

13. I'm going...
... to trust the judgement of many smarter people than myself on DU and have faith that Kerry is up to the task.

This is not something I often do :)

But in this case, the arguments about Kerry being "quiet" don't ring valid to me. It is still early in the campaign, Bush* has spent 100 million dollars and can't get more than a couple points of bounce, and with all the shitstorm surrounding him and his gang of morons, keeping quiet and letting it play out seems like a pretty good strategy to me.

Basically, IMHO, Bush* is flailing wildly and just barely keeping his head above water. At some future time, Kerry can attack and sink him like a rock.

15. Kerry's media oxygen is being rationed.
Edited on Thu May-06-04 10:44 PM by Old and In the Way
No Democrat would be faring any better in that regard. But he is giving great speeches and attacking Bush in a way that makes him (Kerry)look like a statesman. I have no doubts that he'll be ratcheting up his rhetoric as we progress into the summer/fall. For now, he'll continue to let the Bush administration make the case that it's time we elected new leadership for this country. Bush is a lame duck and he knows it.
