The problem with Bush's apology
Here is Bush recounting his apology:

"I told him I was sorry for the humiliation suffered by the Iraqi prisoners and the humiliation suffered by their families"

The problem with this apology is that he's not sorry for the actions of the soldiers. It would be like apologizing for a murder by saying "I'm sorry for the death that's been suffered." He's removing himself from the equation, there's no personal responsibility.

1. Let's face it, those prisoners brought it upon themselves
and EVERYONE is very sorry, but our soldiers had to do what they did.... the prisoners left them no choice.

I take it this is sarcasm?

3. Has he ever shown personal responsibility?
Not to my knowledge. Worst president ever.

5. Part 2 of the "apology" was even more screwed up
I don't remember it verbatim, but it was something to the effect that he was sorry the world had to see those pictures.

I thought, "I'll bet you are, Junior."

You may be assured that the wording of these so called "apologies" was carefully vetted by Rove and Hughes. He said exactly what he meant to say. He's not sorry we did the stuff, only that we got caught. He's sorry for the "humiliation" (implying that those Iraqis' weird religion played a part in their feelings of outrage).

And I'll predict right now that there will come a time when Bush* will try to backpedal from even this so-called "apology".
