The founding of this country was a travesty of horrors against Native Americans. Then, of course, let's look at slavery and Jim Crow with the attendant lynch parties that characterized both!

Hatred and abuse (of those who are different, who are castigated as the 'enemy' as inferior, as whatever ...) is sadly part of human nature that is ratcheted up during war. Americans have NEVER been immune.

The revelations out of Iraq are not novel, rather they are variations on a very old theme that's as American as apple pie and baseball.

4. True, unfortunately...

...but the fact that these pictures have come out and are being investigated is somewhat promising. Those that would tolerate such things are exposing their vapid belief systems to the world.

Kind of like a sore that's come to the surface.

6. look at the ugliness within our borders
what do ya mean you didnt think americans could do this kinda stuff. this is really the ostrach in the sand kinda thing

we watch our children closely to make sure some man doesnt take them and rape them and murder them

we lock our doors at night

our people running companies making 25 million bonus are stealing from the 401k's

we have children shooting up schools

parents not feeding their children, raping their children, putting their children in the day care system from birth,

we want to allow doctors to deny gays medical treatment

pharmacist deny women perscription

a justice saying white men are the rulers and everyone had better get use to it

a police force out of control

and airport that is a prison system all rights gone once entering the building


i believe this is exactly the american we have become
