Screaming "FIRE RUMSFELD!"
From the back. One had 'fire Rumsfeld' written on the back of her tshirt and they were holding a sign that said the same.

I missed what she was shouting at first, I hope someone else caught it.

I think this is going to get enough coverage so that if they disappear, a lot of people will question it.

They'll probably spend the day in jail, though.

But man, that took guts! I'm fired up. That made my day.

I had my back to the tv, listening to his droning. Then one woman's voice rang out: "Why don't you ask him about....

I spun around and everyone in the room looked a little frozen, then the still photographers started jumping up and snapping, and more and more voices joined in. They had on t-shirts that said "Fire Rumsfeld" and they had posters! How did they make it in there with posters?

Cloth banners are the way to go. You can smuggle them in all folded up under your shirt, and then whip them out at the strategic moment.

That was a FANTASTIC moment! REAL "shock and awe"! :bounce:

. . .I am sure that everyone in the room knew it was coming. . .it was just a matter of when. I am sure every veteran Congressional staffer, security, etc. knows them. However it was good, but I am sure no one in the room was surprised it was just a matter of when they would speak up.

My local radio coverage from an Entercom talk radio station cut out IMMEDIATELY after the protestors started raising their voices, and went to Rush Limbaugh, who was starting to mock them before I could turn him off.

Thank god they got a chance to show some Americans dissent.

48. News commentator on NBC said the protestors "embedded" themselves
in the public seats.

Said that there were seats in the hearing room reserved for the public, which is how the protestors happened to be there in the first place.

That "embedded" remark really cracked me up -- what a farking surreal country we live in!

70. Well, it was a pretty interesting word choice, given the "embedding"
of the media in the Iraq invasion, don't you think? I didn't hear it as meaning anything like "terrist", it was more like the commentator just pulled out the first word that came to mind to explain how the protestors came to be in the room.

I found his word choice EXTREMELY ironic, given the use of the term "embedded" to describe journalists.

57. My daughter said, "Is this what it was like?," and I was already crying --
She meant is this what it was like in the Sixties, and she was overwhelmed with the courage and power of it. When the protest started, so totally unexpectedly, and the never-to-be-forgotten look on Rummy's face -- it was a really cathartic moment, and incredible television -- and tears streamed down my face, and I said, "Yeah, that was what it was like, and that time we won."

Edited on Fri May-07-04 11:48 AM by Pithlet
I missed a lot of what they were shouting because I was shouting myself.

It starts out with a woman shouting questions at Rummy. "What about the other abuses in Iraq? What about *couldn't hear this part* What about that? What about the illegal mass detentions? Are you investigating that? What about all the abuses in Iraq? You are a War Criminal!" Then they shout Fire Rumsfeld! over and over until they are forced out.
