Oil Prices Hit $40, First Time Since 1990

perhaps this might remove chimp - since morality and illegal wars dont make much of a dent in the voters minds perhaps an increase in the price of running suv's (what a sad thing to say)

1. Gas Prices
I just saw the local gas prices hit over $2 a gallon....someone needs to step up to the plate and do something.
Has anybody proposed any bill for some relief? They could easily suspend the tax on the gas to help temporarily but I don't see that happening...We need to get our dependence on oil away from the middle east...

We aren't dependent on foreign oil, in the sense that we want them to run out of oil first. If we pump all our domestic oil now, we will be screwed in the middle of this century.

The gas tax is a major source of revenue. If we cut it, we would run larger deficits, which we would eventually have to pay off.

The only solution is to consume less gas. Smaller cars, better gas mileage. Also, wouldn't it be great to do something about urban sprawl?

Or, we could invade an oil rich country and steal their oil, but only a madman would do that.
