Senator Dayton is going offwards
"Did you suppress news reports"

Rummy - "suppress is too strong of a word... I..."

Dayton - "Is it standard procedure to suppress news reports?"

...

etc

He was talking FAST, too.

6. Rummy Whispers
Mark Dayton rocks. Where has this guy been hiding.

I just heard Rummy whisper "God Damn" under his breath as Warner was closing the hearing.

When you get tough with these clowns, they buckle like a cheap belt.

12. Well Mr. Rumsfeld since you asked
for "God Damn" seems he is honoring your petition and request. Amen! Now I hope he honors the same for our Commander-In-thief because my Mommy told me God does not like liars and thieves.

15. Yeah baby! Wellstone Country!
Actually, my Uncle used to be the Bureau of Indian Affairs Area Director for the Minnesota region and he knows Mark Dayton. He knew Wellstone too.

Both great guys.

14. Dammit! I don't have cable and the networks all cut off coverage
after Hillary (she kinda blew my mind actually -- asked some GOOD questions!).

Wish I could have seen Dayton. As I reported in a thread down in the Minnesota forum, Dayton gave one hell of barn-burner of a speech this past weekend at our 8th Congressional District DFL convention. It seemed clear that he's REALLY FED UP with the bushies and the repugs, so it doesn't surprise me that he got in some zingers at the hearing today.

Just wish I could have seen it... :-(

19. oh, no shit?
I was watching on CSPAN. That SUCKS the major networks didn't get Dayton's questions and the resulting stammer fest by Rummy and Myers.

24. "SUCKS" is right!
All of a sudden at 1:30 (CDT), the stations announced they were returning to their "regularly scheduled programming" and that was it -- soap operas!

Oh well. At least I had the extraordinary pleasure of catching the protestors live early in the hearing -- that was DEFINITELY "must-see TV"!

I have enormous respect for Senator Dayton, glad to know he did well in this hearing -- even if I didn't get to see it.

25. You and other DUers need to be sure to . . .
. . . check out the archive of today's coverage at C-SPAN. I was watching CBS when it quit after Hillary. Pissed me off. I hurried and accessed C-SPAN on the internet. I'm telling you, the best came right after Hillary. Watch the archive at C-SPAN.

I thought Dayton, Clinton, Byrd and others did a good job.

27. I just called Sen Dayton's office...
The person I talked to thanked me for my words of support. He said they have had a mixed reaction to Sen. Dayton's comments. I asked if there had been much negative response and he said there certainly was.

SO....it's kind of late in the day, but you all need to call and express your support. If you can't get to it today, then make sure you call tomorrow. Please.

29. Email I sent earlier . . .
Dear Senator Dayton,

I want to tell you how much you are appreciated for your hard questions of Donald Rumsfeld today. Your passion and rage are representative of many people in this country like myself who have unanswered questions and who are held without a voice under this administration. Especially in light of the atrocities committed at Abu Graihb prison and other places of detention resulting from the illegal war in Iraq and the war in Afghanistan. I truly wish Utah had a Senator as passionate about truth as yourself. Minnesota can be very proud today. Thank you.

Sincerely,

TYY
