No wonder the Bushes aren't attending their daughters' graduation
It has nothing to do with security. The Clintons went to Chelsea's graduation w/o incident. Nobody gave it a second thought.

The reason has to do with the Bushies not knowing what other torture images are lurking about and on the edge of going public. The Bushies know that the images already in their possession are devastating in their inhumanity. George and Laura and the twins would be shamed before all of U of T and Yale.

2. They only appear before handpicked audiences
and they can't control this audience or their reactions to the Imperial Presence.

4. Are either George or Laura
scheduled to SPEAK at any graduation ceremonies this year?

It seems their argument about not wanting to impinge on the students' day due to security needs would be wiped out if they did.

12. Does Bunnypants know how reviled he is?
Does he know what reviled means? Ah, these are the questions that try our souls.

You nailed it though, that's why he can't appear! He is so loathed he cannot be there.

6. They can't appear in public, period.
Without being jeered or having the whole venue sterilized by the SS.

15. WTF?
How could they NOT attend the graduations of their own daughters? If that were my kid, I'd be moving heaven, hell, and earth to do whatever I had to do to be there. Other presidents have attended their children's graduations and other ceremonies without much problem, what the hell is their problem? What do they have to hide?

Are they afraid to come down from their isolated mountain and actually face REAL people instead of the handpicked adoring crowds they're used to? And he's supposed to be this great "family man", with "family values?" How could they NOT be there for their daughters on such an important occasion? Can you just imagine the reaction if this were Clinton?
