It Could Not Be Worse and Its Not Going To Get Better
The thing that seems to me to be such a disaster now is that no matter what we do, and I mean that in the sense that no matter what Bush does in the long term or what President Kerry will be able to do in the longer term, that no good end can come to Iraq. We, as a nation, have fucked this up so badly under George Bush that it will haunt us for at least the next 50 years and maybe beyond that. There is simply no good end to this. If it was not clear to everyone in the United States, and probably the world, that George Bush is the very single worst President in our history before this week it certainly can not be foggy to them now.

This is not even taking into consideration domestic issues, the war on terror - which Iraq has absoltuly nothing to do with other than having become the war cry of those who detest us. George W. Bush, the worst President in American History, that is how his presidency will be seen, mark my words.

1. what if it was meant to be
what if in fucking up so bad, and not being able to do shit over there for 50 years, we just have to buy oil other places and the prices they give us in middle east, and we have to stay on our soil and leave them alone to do and not create all kinds of issue that we have been doing for how many decades

what if

i can deal with that

2. 50 years is too conservative
We (westerners in general) still haven't redeemed ourselves for the Crusades in the eyes of some.

Cultural memories are very, very long.

3. It could be worse
and it will get worse before we get out. As of yet we have had no disaster comparable to that which is sent us scurrying out of Lebanon 20 years ago.

The military is trying to play it as safe as possible, but it's only a matter of time before they get through and take out a large number of troops at once.

4. Believe me, it can be worse. And if kerry stops it from deteriorating
further and nothing more, I still feel we gained something, since the danger we are in is so extreme.

5. It could be worse--Bush could steal another election.

If that happens, we are so screwed. This guy W believes
himself to be the primary actor in the bringing about of
The Rapture.

That's the end of the world.

6. Oh, I think it could get much, much worse.
It's already worse than I thought it could be a couple of months ago, when I thought it couldn't get worse....and two months before that, the same....

we don't know where it will end,
but i am concerned that it will be far beyond anyone's imagination now.

Just one of many, many things that keep me awake a night:
The Bush Tang Clan is pushing to develop small tactical nukes. Nukes that are much smaller than, say, the Hiroshima bomb, but could be used to take out an army or flatten a mid-size city.

Can there be any doubt that if he gets them, he will use them?

I am worried to death about the next 10 years. i fear the world will then not look ANYTHING like it did 10 years ago.

10. Dear Swee Jesus - You're Right
Tactical (sp?) nukes ... they had slipped my mind.

If the state of the world goes down hill at the rate is has since Bush took office there will be nothing left to save four years from now.

By the way, what makes you think we don't have small nukes right now? We had nuclear atrillery shells as early as the mid-50's and there are nuclear torpedos too.

12. Micronukes?

Small tactical nukes already exist. I've heard talk about really small ones that may already be deployed in small numbers---if we get overrun over there, I could see it happening.

7. I disagree. It could get a LOT worse.
And probably will. The amount of hatred this is stirring up among previously ambivalent Iraqis is huge. Check out River's latest post ( www.riverbendblog.blogspot.com ); previously she has been grumpy, but willing to give the US the benefit of the doubt---not any more. She is enraged, along with millions of her compatriots.

It's gonna get a lot worse.

8. No, it could be worse and it may yet get worse.
The detonation of a small nuclear device in any major city in the world, but particularly in the US, subsequently BLAMED on "terrorists" (which we've been lead to read subliminally as 'Arab' or 'Muslim'); 300,000 dead and wounded and the horror of it broadcast 24/7 around the world; and cries for REVENGE in kind---Oh, it could be worse, much worse. Remember, as much as these creeps are oil-soaked fascists, many of them are also so called "Christian" Fundamentalists who see it as their divine right, perhaps even obligation, to initiate Armageddon. Yeah. It could get that bad.
