Does anyone remember "The Year of Living Dangerously"?
In that movie, Billy Qwan was living under the corrupt Indonesian Suharto. Things were so hopeless. It was the worst of the worst.

But Billy declared his credo, which was to let the light of his small influence touch those around him and always remain true. He was a small person with no wealth or power.

Tonight, I feel as if we are living in the time of Billy Qwan. THe corruption of Bush's lawless rule is now becoming apparent to the entire world, and we will go down with it if we don't consistently persevere in the little tiny part that we can do.

We mustn't allow ourselves to despair because of this horrible turn of events. We must outlive it. We can't stop trying.

1. it's the only movie w/Mel Gibson I'll watch...
other than Gallipoli.

But, when I first saw it in a theatre, my best friend and I were so taken with the film we went the next night.

Year of Living Dangerously is a really good film. Recommend it highly.

4. That was a movie-here is the real story about how we "built" an elite
and installed them in Indonesia-read this slowly and think about BFEE
because the author called it a "new form of government, military-private enterprise"

6. Billy got thrown out of the window by the fascits, who ended up winning
Gibson's character got the girl and got out of the country, but that wasn't much consolation for the Indonesians who were left behind.

8. It's an awesome movie. Directed by Peter Weir
who is probably the best director alive today.
