Bush's Sad Legacy - WARNING disturbing historical images
Edited on Sat May-08-04 01:05 AM by mw
When nations go bad, bad things happen.

I knew Bush would one day be assigned to the dustbin of history. I just didn't know it would happen so quickly.

1. and a few that perhaps should be, but aren't (warning: ghastly)
For the life of me, I can't figure out why photos such as these haven't been made public, or produced a hundred times the outrage of the prisoner/torture photos.

2. Also good--I mean bad--photos
However, I believe that the Iraqi prison photos--in particular the girl holding the leash--will become as iconic as the holocaust or Nanking or Vietnam pics I posted.

Forever, Bush's name will be associated with war atrocities.

3. well I'm not arguing with you
to me it's just bizarre. Those other pictures seemed paradigmatic of the situations they illustrated. The prison pictures ...... well maybe they are and I just haven't realized it yet

4. I totally agree. They are ghastly. Here is what we can do:
We can become the broadcast media. It is simply a matter of taking the initiative to do it. Copy each image to your computer. Create an email to your list--everyone should have one--of people you know--or media or politicians. Now make the images either attached files or imbedded ones and send them off to your list with a message for everyone to send them on to THEIR list.

It is not something that would be appreciated by most people so expect to get flack from in, perhaps even loose a friend or two. But here's the thing: We MUST get people to see what has been going on and to STOP THIS WAR *and* END THE OCCUPATION OF OUR WHITEHOUSE by these sick bastards!

6. they probably have filters that strip attachments from e-mail
I mean, I would, if I were they.

Yes, I've thought of doing what you suggest, but I'm assuming they won't accept attachments.

10. Imagine being the woman GI in this picture
She was just a young woman, sent into a bad situation by a fictitious president. And she let her hair down morally in a morally bankrupt situation.

Her picture will be infamous for all time.

She'll have to live with it for the rest of her life.

I'm sorry for her, for getting caught up in it. But she made bad choices (we all do at times) and got caught (many of us are lucky not to).
