Would the resignation of Rumsfeld end the Iraqi torture story?
Would that be sufficient? Would people be willing to go forward and put this awful immoral act behind us, if Rumsfeld were to resign? Or is he nothing more than a diversion of the moment, to divert our attention away from the more sickening and disgusting problem now facing our nation? That is, what do we do to get out of the mess in Iraq?

He is such a symbol of the corruption that he needs to go,
It will not stop the problem however.

2. Americans might. Iraqis never.
Only way we can even START to repair the damage in the Mideast is to get completely new faces of leadership in place. Starting at the top.

3. That's right.
We can try to placate the US and some of our allies with the resignation of Rummy, but it won't mean a thing to the vast majority of the world. The only way for the world to start healing is to elect Senator Kerry and replace the whole administration.

Did Rummy do a good job? Online poll:

4. Who Would Replace Him?
Wolfowitz is the Assistant Secretary. He's an idiot.

Powell maybe. At least he knows about the military.

6. I used to think that would be enough
I was optimistic weeks ago, imagining that a Kerry victory in Novermber would be the beginning of the end.

But Abu Ghraib just raised the ante by an order of magnitude.

We have profounded injured Iraqi honor. The only redress of humiliation in an honor-based society is violent revenge -- and Muslims worldwide will take it against Americans everywhere, and we don't have enough friends in the world who will care anymore.

The only way we can hope to prevail in this war and survive as a credible leader in the world is to demonstrate our moral leadership by impeaching Bush et al and indicting them for war crimes. That alone may provide satisfaction for the loss of honor we have inflicted -- to humiliate and punish the President of the United States, George W Bush.

8. Which is not going to happen, of course.
With a Republican Congress, the only way * could be impeached is if the people marched on Washington. But apparently the people still think everything is ok, and they would accept Rumsfeld's resignation as an end to the "incident".

That's why I don't want him to resign or to be fired. I want him to sit in the hot seat until November, with every move he makes now scrutinized by the world.

7. Maybe Not....
but it will show the world that we do have a conscience and some what of a moral authority. By severing the position of Scumsfeld we show the world that we walk the walk, as well as talk the talk. Cutting the head off of one of the snakes would be a good example that we are for real. Lets face it this turd of a human being (compliment) has deserved to be fired many times over. I say this puke is a criminal and should be tried as one.
Aborting this demonic fetus would at least put an end to one of our tortures!
