6. Myers insinuated as much
One of the spookiest things to come out of the hearing: there seems to be an acknowledgement within the adminstration that these photos just lost the war, or at best just made it more impossible to win.

Violence will inevitably escalate. When it does, they will try to tell us, "See? We told you that those photos should have never come out. We *tried* to stop it."

Inevitably, there will also be further divisions among Americans. It's going to be tougher to "support the troops." And families of the people who will increasingly succumb to violent attacks will blame those who are opposed to the war -- at least, that's what Mr Rove is trying to engineer.

Bush is now completely bankrupt. He has obliterated American moral prestige and authority -- all he has left is brute force. The only way he will be able to pursue this sole remaining option is by simultaneously increasing repression at home.

15. all the bush* war criminals tried to COVER UP their crimes....

bush* minions deliberately

-sent out press release on torture at 5 PM on a Friday afternoon in January....

-call torturing, murdering, raping and child sodomy, just a little 'abuse of detainees', when in fact, it is TORTURE of POWs...

-claimed that none of them had seen the photos, except rummy, who only viewed the photos this past Thursday evening....in the testimony, under oath, NOBODY had seen any photos until just before their testamony, even though the entire world had seen photos for a WEEK....

-called CBS, and had BIG Military Generals demand that they not show photos....

-classified the torture REPORTS as 'top secret', even though, congress claimed there was NO REASON to classify those 'top secret' except a 'cover-up'

-hid all the Red Cross reports of torture from Congress.

-conducted torture operations late at night, when the military was certain the Red Cross would not be around....

It's just the kind of threatening attitude these Wafioso have.

18. Outrage!!!
The Right Wing is more outraged about the photos than the systematic
policy of torture, the negation of Geneva Convention and the policy of pre-emptive war. The Right Wing has supported the systematic
policy of torture, the negation of Geneva Convention and the policy of pre-emptive war. It's the photos that they object to.

23. He thinks more highly of him than Haig!
Rummy is his carboncopy...

From W&B's "The Final Days"...

In Haig's presence, Kissinger referred pointedly to military men as "dumb, stupid animals to be used" as pawns for foreign policy. Kissinger often took up a post outside the doorway to Haig's office and dressed him down in front of the secretaries for alleged acts of incompetence with which Haig was not even remotely involved. Once when the Air Force was authorized to resume bombing of North Vietnam, the planes did not fly on certain days because of bad weather. Kissinger assailed Haig. He complained bitterly that the generals had been screaming for the limits to be taken off but that now their pilots were afraid to go up in a little fog. The country needed generals who could win battles, Kissinger said, not good briefers like Haig.

or...

On another occasion, when Haig was leaving for a trip to Cambodia to meet with Premier Lon Nol, Kissinger escorted him to a staff car, where reporters and a retinue of aides waited. As Haig bent to get into the automobile, Kissinger stopped him and began polishing the single star on his shoulder. "Al, if you're a good boy, I'll get you another one," he said.

I figure Rummy has made a few remarks like this...
