Shreik 2, Iraq torture and American "humor"
I saw the trailer for Shreik 2 while watching NBA playoff game this weekend. In it was a scene where Pinocchio was falling down a hole, Someone yells "tell a lie" at which Pinocchio says I am wearing woman's underwear. Following another comment, Pinocchio says "I most certainly am not", at which his nose grows and he can use it to save himself in some manner or another to stop his fall. If you have not seen this, perhaps it is on the online trailer (there is a link through http:/imdb.com ) though I couldn't get it to work this morning.

Given the torture of Iraqis and the propensity of some of our soldiers to have the prisoners parade in woman's underwear, I find this scene rather disgusting, certainly worse than Janet Jackson's breast. I have always thought, and this confirms my belief that the "obscenity" of many G-rated children's films (which teach behaviour) is worse than R-rated films (which are more likely simply to portray life). Well Shreik 2 is PG, but give me "Prime Suspect" or "The Long Kiss Goodnight" for my kids any day.

Me, I'm looking for the removal of the scene and an apology from the producers.

1. Isn't that a little over-the-top?
The movie was filmed long before anyone knew about the abuse/torture allegations in Iraq.

2. I think you're trolling, sorry.
I may be wrong, but by your logic, ANYONE wearing women's underwear is offensive towards the Iraqis now. I think you're hoping to bait some liberal commie pinkos into defending your position so you can go back to Freeperville and say "haw haw! Those damn PC liberals want to censor kids movies now!"

Of course, I could be totally wrong in my take on your motivations for posting such nonsense.

3. probably was too late to change it
While it is not in great taste given the current situation, I am guessing that it was probably too late to change the trailer.

4. Are you mental?

I assume this is a joke. If not, you either need to find a hobby less stressful than politics or else move on to bigger issues. Why not a ban on Rin Tin Tin movies because he looks like the guard dogs in the Iraq photos?

Or, if you want to do the world a real service, how about tackling Cirque de Soliel? Didn't they invent naked human pyramids?

re: BEWITCHED. Dear sirs, I was distressed to see your heroine depicted in the opening credits riding a broom. Surely you know that the primary use of brooms is to rape Iraqi detainees. Why should our children be exposed to this filth?

6. Clarification
I ain't no freeper. And no I do not want the movie banned. But if we are to have a rating system (which I think is f**ked up), I cannot understand why in general movies that degrade women, gays, ethic groups and promote anti-social behaviour (for the lack of a better term) are often considered acceptable for children, while a bare breast or (certain) four letter words are off limits. Well maybe I understand, but I do not accept it.

But I for one see no great leap between the humour portrayed in this (and other) movies and the actions (which Limbaugh called humorous) of some of our soldiers. If someone has a proclivity for wearing womans' undergarments (or any other article of clothing) that is their business, not a reason for humour (though clothing can be comical).
