I've come to honor Rummy, not to bury him
Donald Rumsfeld was the only member of this adminstration on 9/11 who acted as if he had a clue. I remember seeing footage of him scurrying around the ruins of the Pentagon that day trying to help with the rescue efforts.

All the while, * was flying all over the country looking for a safe bunny hole, Cheney had retreated to his "secure location", and Powell and Rice were nowhere in sight.

Oh yeah -- Karen Hughes gave a press conference to let us know "that the president was all right".

It's amazing that the two biggest jerks -- Rumsfeld and Guiliani -- emerged as true leaders that day.

However, in the blink of an eye, they both reverted back to their assholery.

Rumsfeld should be held accountable for the prison abuse scandal, but I have to give him props for the one time he did act like a leader.

2. And as we learned in Clarke's book
all the king's men and Condi abandoned the White House and turned to Clarke to make the decisions in the immediate aftermath.

3. I got to admit
His apology was a lot more straightforward than one could expect.
Too late though...

4. And on September 12, he wanted to bomb Iraq...
because there weren't enough decent targets in Afghanistan. "In the blink of an eye" indeed. Once an asshole always an asshole. But as long as the Chimp is squatting in the White House, I don't see the point of burying Rumsfeld either. Whether its Armitage or Wolfowitz who steps in his shoes to replace him, its still like The Who said in "Won't Get Fooled Again" - 'Meet the new boss, its the same as the old boss'.
