Should Rumsfeld Resign?
I know there are a number of petitions out there from Kerry's campaign and I think moveon.org.

My question is, do we really want him to resign? I mean, maybe it is like when Trent Lott had to step down (as Senate Majoirty Leader) for "racist" remarks. Now we have Senator Frist, who, say what you will about his politics gives the appearance of a congenial man. Democrats would be better off if Senator Lott were still more high profile.

If Rumsfeld doesn't resign, and Dubya keeps him, then we can continue to point to this horrific failure and just how outrageous it is that Dubya would keep this man who ignored reports from the Red Cross even as he claimed not to condone torture.

1. NO!
He should be FIRED in public. Then he should be prosecuted.

Please allow me my few pipe dreams....

2. Rummy should be fired or resigned
The firing of Rummy would be the most positive thing that Bush could do to put some distance between this mess and himself. Instead of doing the right thing, Bush is now praising Rummy and supporting him. I think Rummy should resigned or be fired even if this helps Bush in November.

3. He needs to resign
Rummy staying aboard is not a political issue that we should use to our advantage. This is a human rights issue where from the top down torture was condoned and encouraged as a way to "make them talk". We must do as the military promises and see failure from a top level prospective. The failure of a private is the failure of a seargent to train and a general to lead. The general is just as culpable as the private.

To say let him stay so Kerry can skewer him is not enough. The freepers will claim justice and say "see the torture could not have been that bad".

6. Exactly. What for?
Over a little "hazing" incident? Didn't you see what them Eye-Rakis did to "our guys" in Fallujah, strung em up all toasty-like on a bridge? We are winning against the enemies of freedom, and we have Rumsfeld to thank for it. . . oh, hang on Nascar's on. . .
