Would give Rumsfeld such a strong endorsement when faced with obscene graphic photos of Americans torturing Iraqi's. I cannot fathom such wordplay as "superb job" given the failings of the US role in the Iraq war.
I mean, on the one hand, Bush reacts with deep disgust and disbelieve, and then he goes on to tell Rumsfeld what a wonderful job he is doing as defense secretary.
<Bush said in his public remarks, "The conduct that has come to light is an insult to the Iraqi people and an affront to the most basic standards of morality and decency." >
Mr. Bush - the recent events were not just an insult to the Iraqi people, they were an insult to the American public, to the trust it placed in your presidency. It is an insult to the entire free world that the US would stoop so low as to justify torture as a ways and means of fighting terrorism/insurgency in Iraq. Let us be honest now, this is not a few isolated cases of misdirected overexuberant youths just relieving stress(according to Herr Rush). This is a systemic effort permitted and encouraged by the highest offices of government to do whatever it takes to win.
OK, I'll get off my soapbox rant now....am getting increasing worried to what lengths this administration will go.......very very concerned.
