bush* made a HUGE mistake by cheering for rumsfeld today....

bush* could have bailed out and washed his hands of the whole POW-torture mess by firing rummy or encouraging rummy to quit today...AND trying to hide the photos/videos/audios is just politically crazy....

by keeping rummy on board...bush* has NO EXCUSE for the torture AND appears to all Americans, to be real complicit in it...

bush* actions give LOTS of ammunition to the Democrats as the election season moves into full swing...

we'll get a daily drip drip drip of leaking torture photos/videos/audio....AND a daily dose of bush* Iraq war failure...which will get much much worse....

AND a continuous house and senate call for bush*'s impeacement....

1. If this was another country, we'd be expressing total outrage.
And we'd deride any leader who, with all that is going on, referred to his defense chief as "superb."

but understand that he also tortured another piece of normal speech. Anybody got it to report?

18. We should be out in the streets at this outrage
not to mention the outrage in regards to the torture itself. Sometimes I lament we are so large a country. Yet we do have power. I can't believe we can't pull together a pro-test so massive it would dwarf the women's right one. Demand to have our voices heard. I wish.

2. Ahem.
His base thinks its cool to kick some rag head ass. They also think its ok payback for the mercenaries killed in Fallujah.

I wouldn't have believed it unless I had heard "them" talking here and there. Yep. Rove knows his supporters.

It's beyond most of us to imagine the thought process. But, they are still conflating Iraq with 9/ll and of course they just looooove little Georgie, all religious and all, and gettin' them heathan AyRabs.

Should help with those in the middle, most of whom have to be at least uncomfortable with all of this.

The longer Rummy stays on, the wider the stain spreads throughout the Administration. Blind faith in his cronies will seem more important to Bush than honor and getting to the bottom of who was really responsible, which will then raise other 'who was responsible' questions about odd things that have happened over the past 3 years.

The average sheeple may not be the most critical of thinkers, but give 'em enough time to make a connection (real or imagined), and watch the ripples of association start to appear.

BTW ~ 'impeacement' ? I don't think Shrubbie is capable of being peaced at any level ... :hi:

Edited on Mon May-10-04 09:09 PM by Davis_X_Machina
...presages a classic Rovian campaign.

If all you've got is a rock-solid 37% of the electorate, then you suppress turnout as far as possible with a negative campaign, and hope that your true believers outnumber their true believers.

I predict a progressively more linguistically violent, more overtly xenophobic, more overtly Islamophobic, campaign from here on in. The torturers will be morphed into heroes, especially when there's a highly publicized 'attempted terrorist attack' is made whose prevention was made possible by information elicited by the brave men and women of Abu Ghraib.

It's all they've got, so they're running with it.

9. Rummy's got something on *
And he's probably shaking him down for some after November pay. In return, Rumman takes the bullet and keeps his mouth shut. That's how the mob works.

20. I think you could make a list of who could have something on Bush on:
Coke, AWOL, pregnancies, Saudi money.

Who? Cheney, Rumsfield, Tenet, Freeh, the Saud Royal Family, bin Laden family, Hussein and probably a couple hundred other people in/out of government.

Lots of ways for GWB to be compromised. And yes, I think it is being reflected in the distinctly bizarre anti-American agenda that this administration is carrying out.

10. Did you ever stop to consider
...that Rumsfeld has the goods on the Idiot Boy six ways from Sunday? I believe that Rumsfeld feels if he's going down in the twilight of his career, he's taking others with him. Rumsfeld knows where the bodies are buried (because he was the one doing the burying, no doubt), but I'm sure Boy Einstein is up to his neck in all of this too. So they're going to put up a brave front together.

Problem is, the press isn't asking "how high" when the administration says "jump" like they used to. At least not all of them are.

It's going to be interesting, to say the very least.

17. if even ONE of bush* high-level war criminals gets cornered...they will
Edited on Mon May-10-04 09:57 PM by amen1234
point fingers everywhere, and spill the beans on the rest, just to keep themselves out of jail....it will be lot of rats jumping off a sinking ship....just like common street criminals, pointing fingers at their compatriots in order to stay out of jail...

even now, the smarter bush* war criminals are cleaning out their files, saving important documents that could be used to turn in others and cut plea bargains....

just like Watergate...as the scandal got bigger...EVERYBODY close to nixon turned in their colleagues...it was a stampede to plea bargain their way out of jail....

and a LOT went to jail..up to and including the Attorney General john mitchell.....just imagine that asscroft would serve time in a Federal Penitentary.....

I remember nixon near the end, whining that all his "FRIENDS" had abandon him....actually all the reTHUGlicans around him were not his friends at all...as most reTHUGlicans, they were always 'every man for himself' and never community-oriented....nixon's 'friends' were just as hypocritical and criminal as nixon...

13. Bush is showing his inflexibility, which will lose him all the independent
voters who want someone with a brain, the dems he never had and many of the marginal repugs who can't believe the giant sucking sound that is their party.

He's showing his stupidity. And, perhaps, God put him on star 69.

21. well...bush* WAR is not going to get better....it WILL get much much
worse in the next few months before the elections...

at least if he had dropped rumsfeld...bush* would have had a good reason why the situation in Iraq deteriorated...AND bush* could have blamed the whole war deterioration onto the Democrats for demanding rummy's resignation....

now, bush* fell right into the Democratic TRAP....by refusing to give up rummy, bush* is now stuck with both rummy and his own un-winnable war AND the Democrats nipping at bush* over impeacement, just like the reTHUGlicans did to Clinton....all the way to the election...

as bush*'s war EXPLODES....Democrats and KERRY come out to say: "look, we told the chimp to get rid of rummy"

How could he be so stupid? He is endagering the soldiers even more!

Also, rummy just admitted he was at fault, so why would you praise someone who has messed up so badly? Ridiculous.
