Does anyone feel a major purge in the offing?
For some reason I have this feeling that the Republicans are on the verge of a purge! (No rhyme intended.) Rumsfeld, then Wolfowitz, then Powell…… just a feeling. Is it prescient or wishful thinking?

4. I have mixed feelings on this.
It depends on how they'd view going through the approval process. Would a lot of important issues surface during it, or do people just not really care enough and would they could spin it like the Democrats are stalling national security issues?

5. god yes
I am soooo fat now. I must have eaten six or seven carrots for dinner and if I don't get to the bathroom soon, well, it goes right to my hips.

7. They're not going to purge themselves
These people were chosen for their positions precisely because they were loyal foot soldiers who could be counted on to keep secrets and toe the neocon line. The only ones among this bunch who have left the fold have been the outsiders who were essentially hired for window-dressing.

10. Those people are the ones
who've been involved...they've been getting paid nicely and are involved with their corruption.

8. Are you kidding?
The ones who quit write books about the dumbass. How do you think the ones who get fired will behave?

9. Exactly, Mantis
Besides, it's too close to the election. Can't have cabinet confirmation hearings in the middle of the campaign. heaven only knows what might come out in the process.

Although the bushies have been knowns to fight one scandal with another -- oh! oh! look over there! -- they're in the midst of two many "distractions" at the moment. Someone in another thread suggested this whole thing was to distract from Joe Wilson's book, but I think if the bushies were gonna launch a distraction, they'd have picked something other than a major sex-and-violence scandal.

* roped himself to Rumsfeld today; if he repudiates the evil slimebucket now, he's gonna look less loyal than George McGovern. (Anyone remember Tom Eagleton and being behind him 110%???) Loyalty -- aka blind allegiance -- is fundamental to these monsters. Rummy goes back a looooooooong way. I don't think he could get out now if he wanted to.

12. Wishful thinking.
I posted earlier; but there've been articles of Bush PRAISING Rumsfeld.

I am so fucking scared for the future...
