Conservatives support torture
Is anyone surprised that the allegation of abuse at Abu Ghraib prison are being dismissed by many right-wing pundits as no big deal? Popular drug addict Rush Limbaugh dismissed the abuse as soldiers letting off steam, and other pundits compare the abuse to hazing rituals at colleges. Which really makes you wonder about Rush. I can't speak for Rush, but when I need to blow off steam, I don't round up Iraqi prisoners and sexually humiliate them.

Donald "I will not resign" Rumsfeld, in fact, told the Senate Armed Services Committee last week that the worst is yet to come. "There are other photos that depict incidents of physical violence toward prisoners, acts that can only be described as blatantly sadistic, cruel and inhumane...it's going to get a good deal more terrible, I'm afraid."

MSNBC reported that the unreleased photographs show an Iraqi prisoner beaten nearly to death; a photo of U.S. forces having sex with a female Iraqi prisoner; and photos of American soldiers "acting inappropriately" with a corpse. There also is allegedly a video tape, shot by U.S. military police, of Iraqi guards raping young boys.

I wonder what Rush and Sean Hannity would be saying if the president was a Democrat and the photographs were of U.S. soldiers being abused? Of course they'd be horrified and calling for quick retaliation against Iraq.

"Our nation owes you a debt of gratitude," President George W. Bush said today of his secretary of defense.

A debt of gratitude? For what? The deaths of nearly 10,000 Iraqi civilians? The deaths of over 700 U.S. soldiers? Bad intelligence stating Iraq was a threat due to massive quantities of weapons of mass destruction?

At least Iraq is now free of Saddam's torture chambers.

1. Great words.
Rush Limbaugh should be sent to Abu Ghraib.

2. A caller on a local Atlanta radio show today said "
that the seven military people that did the prison tortures were his heroes. He further stated that "We didn't send our boys over there to coddle the Iraqis. They didn't apologize for killing a torturing our guys". The show host, Kim Peterson replied, and I quote verbatim,"You're a beautiful American, man. God bless you."

None of that was any worse than the vitriol spewed on a regular basis by Michael Savage, the "you know I'm right" guy. He said that the liberals were blowing the prison incident up, just like they over re-acted to the Rodney King beating. Savage has a Ph.D. in science. He's too smart to believe the nonsense he pukes out everyday. In my mind, that makes him one of the worst.
