1. Lenno is slime.
Anyone who would backstab Johnny Freaking Carson to get ahead is a soulless scumbag.

6. Just Saw Nightshift...
According to the movie, Leno never stabbed Carson in the back, it was his agent, and supposedly she lied to Leno that she didn't do it. It's a great movie and showing somewhere around the HBO universe this month.

17. Helen Kushnik didn't lie to him – he just didn't want to know
those things. She even remarked to him, "You sure like those juicy steaks I serve up, but you don't want to know where they come from," or something to that effect. Johnny didn't want to retire just yet, but Helen pushed him out.

20. And Johnny Wanted Letterman
Or at lest that's how the movie portrayed it. I've also heard Carson wanted to go another couple years but was tired of the games the GE Corporates played...and that was more the reason he quit. Kushnik's statements just gave him the right time/staging to do it. There are those who say Carson put Leno/Kushnik up to it, since the LA Observer (I think that was the paper it was in) article came up right during the NBC affiliates meetings, which Carson always relunctantly attended. Johnny liked to suprise.

The part of the movie we had troubles trying together was the part where Leno leaves the Tonight show set, then eavesdrops on the top NBC Executives...writing notes about what was being said that he would later use on Warren Littlefield. The movie shows Leno walking out of the Tonight Show studios and into an office building in a quick jump-cut. Problem is the Tonight show is in Burbank and the NBC Meeting was supposed to be in Florida. That was one of those things Siskel & Ebert would find in the 80's.

28. He has stabbed Carson in the back in so many other ways
A perfect example is in the case of Uri Geller. Carson took great pains to set up Uri and basically call him out for the fraud he is. Carson destroyed Geller's carreer in the US. That is until Lamo invited Uri back to the show and basically gushed and did everything except kiss his hand.

Leno has no respect for anything to do with Carson.

.. was bullshit. They give some multi-millionaire free advertising on a Republican network. We need to start clamping down on the media, if the Dems ever get in power.

2. Leno is unwatchable
He used to be funny a long time ago before he got the Tonight show. But he made it awful, why did Carson pick him, terrible choice. Course, Carson is king so it is hard to think who could fill his shoes.

18. At first he tried his own humor
but Letterman was beating him in the ratings with his new CBS show. So, little by little, Leno stole Dave's ideas – going out into the street, telephone calls, etc. What really drives me up the wall with Leno is the way he explains every joke he tells. After giving the punch line, he adds another line to explain the joke.

I don't recall ever watching him that much. But here we are, almost 4 years into The Buffoon's reign, and he's still telling jokes about Bill Clinton. Why? because the ditto-heads LIKE that kind of stuff.

22. Steve Allen, I Could Not Stand
I finally lost it and wrote a letter to a local (SFV) rag that did the gushing puff piece on Steve-a-rino that it was high time people start questioning him when he says he wrote 8,000 songs or whatever.

He wrote "This Could Be The Start Of Something Big" (nobody's favorite) and like one other song that escapes me at the moment and yet he was always bragging about the THOUSANDS of books and THOUSANDS of songs he wrote.

Well they published this letter and it got a flood of pro and anti feedback and then he went and died just to make me feel bad.

29. Frankly, I don't give a damn
what he said. He's a god damn late nite comedian, folks, if you're so all in a spin about what he says than just don't watch him. Frankly, I think he's pretty funny sometimes, not so funny other times. He can tell a good joke at the expense of people or organizations I like. When I stop laughing and start getting all outraged about that I'll start looking for my pills.

I have never liked him. Especially driven home by the way he treated Joan Rivers - when she decided to try her own talk show Johnny refused to speak to her even though they had been good friends. When Joan's husband committed suicide, she never even received condolences from him. He's a f***ing asshole who has a lot of people snowed.

38. Leno is a total fucking whore
It comes from trying to be everything to everyone. Lately, like Miller, he's been riding the prevailing winds, right. The Clinton jokes are bizarre at this point. It makes me think he's still doing them because he's too chicken-shit to bash the pubs without equal time for the dems. Problem is, we practically have one party rule at this point, so chin-monster has to repeat his golden oldies with Clinton. That, and his lewd and mostly uninvited groping of female guests, is completely puke inducing. He is a perfect spokesman for the current American psyche.
