Folks, I'm nearing my 1000th post here. When, Lord, will it end?

Is there a Lord? A "higher power"? I don't know about all of it. But here is what I do know. We are screwed. I cannot get over how much of this country's population is so invested in supporting Bush's lies, failed policies, etc. We will only survive if we use our smarts and our distinguishing characteristics of truth and liberalism.

It is the liberalism of our good will toward others, our sanity in the face of evil...we've got to arm ourselves with facts and the able representatives who can amplify our message and FAST.

The whole world is supporting the loyal opposition of this country. We need to fight. We need to be here for each other. Maybe it's a lost cause. I don't know. But I will jump into the streets here in Portland with others. I will donate to moveon.org and other groups. I will do what I can to unseat this unholy group who have stolen our country.

I have a small hope that we have just enough true citizens in this country so that we will prevail. We shall overcome.

I'm grateful for this place and for the sharing of great ideas and information. I'm grateful for the folks that 'give what they can'...be it money, time, or insight. And you're one of the many who have contributed (and me too, I guess).

All thing work together for good, it is said.....DU is an excellent example of that. Thank you for your contributions, whatever they are/and may be in the future! Again, Congrats on 1000!!!

I haven't even passed 100. I've been here a long time. Actually really since that inauguration parade of shrub's; you know where he was walking down the street obviously clad in lots of bullet-proof vests and there were jeers and boos.

And in the audience were people with placards for DU.

I signed up and began posting but quit because of newbie paranoia. My posts got "spammed" with repukes saying "f--- you miserable little blah blah blah."

Then I didn't even post for a long time. And then we changed internet providers and I forgot my password and it couldn't be emailed to me because that account was gone. So, eventually I re-signed back up. But I mostly am content to lurk.

I appreciate all you 1000+ers for making this such an interesting place to read! And all the rest too!! When do you find the time?!

I am sure you had plenty of good things to say during these years...both here and offline. I'm excited and anxious by turns. Some days I get really disappointed and discouraged, but most times I m at DU I get pumped again.

It has really moved me to action outside of this forum as well.

I've been getting so angry sometimes, I just want to hide my head in the sand, just to spare myself. But I get no satisfaction from trying to "turn it off".

But feelings of helplessness only lead to depression.

Angry and depressed isn't a good place to be.

About the only activism I've ever engaged in is trying to get the apathetic to vote. And I've been moderately successful in the past.

Keep posting and encouraging.

I'm going to do more. And more.

They're not going to ruin my country dammit!

My point was there are many times I don't feel like I'm doing enough or even COULD do enough. THe message was precisely that we NEED more. THat a few "I"s don't get it.

I'm usually very happy to be associated with this group--especially now that primary season is over!

I like having my cake and eat it too-
