23. Actual bush quotes . . .scary . . .

"My job is to, like, think beyond the immediate."—Washington, D.C., April 21, 2004

"This is historic times."—New York, N.Y., April 20, 2004

"Obviously, I pray every day there's less casualty."—Fort Hood, Texas, April 11, 2004

"Recession means that people's incomes, at the employer level, are going down, basically, relative to costs, people are getting laid off."—Washington, D.C., Feb. 19, 2004

"God loves you, and I love you. And you can count on both of us as a powerful message that people who wonder about their future can hear."—Los Angeles, Calif., March 3, 2004

Bush thinks he and "god" have a personal relationship. He has discussions with his deity and obviously hears voices in his head.
Bush equates himself with his god and that is truly terrifying!!!

As President Bush put it, they are an exceptional "few bad apples"
whose actions "do not reflect the nature of our country."

28. Um
Matt 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Not going to get into it big time but there are plenty of passages suggesting that if someone wanted to they could make a case for war from the teachings of Jesus. Its a big book. Lots of stuff in there. You can make what you want of it.

2. I am convinced that this religion thing with bush
is no more than a convenient ploy that has been used to attract the far right wing. His "beliefs" seem to revolve around using sound bites and catch phrases that will sound good to the Christian right.
He probably spends a lot of time watching those cheap televangelists to get ideas and inspiration, since he has the same peculiar sense of timing and inflection.

3. Maybe,
I doubt it though. Bush's refusal to question his snap decisions and assumptions indicates he thinks he's just doing the work of the Divine, who "works in mysterious ways". Here read this - they behave like fanatics: http://www.ariannaonline.com/columns/column.php?id=707

4. I attribute his refusal to question or change his mind
to a deliberate long term POLITICAL strategy to do it this way, nothing to do with some new, discovered after age forty, deep convictions .

The very first attack against Kerry was based on the contrast between himself and Kerry's flip/flop. It was like he couldn't wait another minute to finally get a chance to exploit his goddamn resolve.

7. He's also a recovering alcoholic
There is a lot going on. He's obviously fixated on his ideas. A smart politician will adjust his views - Bush has had no trouble in that arena in other areas: gay marriage being a state's issue, pledges of funding for AIDS and for first responders, having a humble foreign policy - on and on. But his main paradigm - that the US is divinely charged with the duty to rid the world of evil so the oppressed of the world can embrace God's gift of American-style freedom and that the goal can be achieved through a military war against "evildoers" - has not changed, even in the face of abundant evidence that the plan is not working: that bin Laden is newly offering gold bounties should put to rest the thought that Bush's War on Terror is working - but it makes Bush hold on to his core beliefs more firmly.

27. What scares me is the Bush/Evangelical Church connections to Rev. Moon
Moon owns the Washington Times. Moon considers himself the second-coming. The Bush family and a number of Washington RW'ers are connected to him. Anyone remember the term, "New World Order?"

5. But Bush "got religion" several years before running for any office...
so I think he may actually believe he believes whatever the hell it is he believes (shit! I'm starting to sound like Donald Rummsfeld). That said, reading the Gospels and looking at what he and his right wing Kkkristian cronies are up to, I see no correlation whatsoever.

6. In the Christian right culture, it is acceptable to have been
a total fuck-up / drunk / you name it, as long as you have "found Jesus" In fact the bigger the fuck-up the bigger the hero you become after you are "saved".
Do you think for one minute his handlers didn't consider all of this as the quickest fix when they went about rehabilitating his "image" prior to his political life?

8. Born again same as being a dry drunk, one never gets rid of
their baggage, therefore never recovered,
still carry their same mind, same habits
without ever looking at themselves or their
misdeeds in life and to others.

9. Surfing..saw tele evangelist Jack Van Impe and what he said oooooh
Talking about OUR PRESIDENT and how Condi Rice was asked by them )He and his wife to consult with Condi Rice on Foreign Affairs regarding end times and the closesness of Armageddon and this guy, who I have seen before was elated, talking almost like 7 virgins were awaiting him. Saying, Close Folks, real close to us going up soon. Then he brings out a news article about Bill Clinton going for Sec. of Un which wouldmake Clinton in their beliefs the AntiChrist.
I am the daughter of a Baptist minister and my Dad is a Democrat and likes Bill Clinton and can't stand Bush and I just sat here in awe struck dazed limbo of what this guy was telling the fundies and people who should know better. He was serving up the Koolaid !

12. Absolutely ! People better wake up or Kaboom !
This is scarier to me than the Duck and Cover routine we had to go through as kids. My Goodness. I cannot believe what people are beleiving. Sure many of us are ashamed of some many things that was wrong in the 50's and 60's but Heavens to Betsy, we knew things were wrong, even if some did nothing about it. which makes one guilty by sitting on the sidelines but these folks REALLY BELIEVE Bush is apostle, or angel, or messenger rather than a Fire breathing, gutless, worthless piece of crap !

I wonder if they will eventually castrate themselves and take to wearing track suits all the time?

One can only hope...

29. He got religion when he was being groomed for office
It was exactly the right timing. Billy Graham is an astute political opportunist and he was his mentor while grooming for public life.

11. Well for heaven's snakes!
Anyone who can handle Bush should have no problem with the copperheads and rattlesnakes! It looks like to me, the way things are going Gawd is kind of frowning on Bush's raping, pillaging and plundering! Let's see now Adolf blew his own brains out, Benito was killed and dragged through the streets, Saddam was living in a hidey hole! It adds up to, people who wage aggressive wars on other countries get paid back for their EVIL ways in the end! I would not shed a tear for any of the monsters from the past, who fate dealt with harshly, for their EVIL transgressions against others! The Bible warned them against transgressions and they didn't listen!

in God, as long as God thinks "his" way. I'm sure he wouldn't listen to God (or anyone else) if their opinions aren't in sync.

24. Horsedukey. Can't believe some people actually believe that
George believes. Get a grip. George is just using religion because he was such a fuckup in the past. Being "born again" gives him a pass with stupid people. They can pretend that "he's changed", not the complete asshole he was before.

What a crock of shit.

A real Christian is and would be ashamed of this dim bulb. His light is hidden under a bushel of crap. All you need to see is him smirk when death of innocents is mentioned.
Dorky guy restated W's old saying that we would be going through a world of sh*t and believes that God wanted him to lead.
