1. Although Taguba's behavior is admirable it doesn't warrant
the Medal of Honor.

2. Sorry I disagree. He made that report knowing he would be finished in the
Army. That is a true patriot and took tremendous courage,.

He could have done what all the others did and reported, everything's fine.

Decent. Integrity. Courage. Very rare qualities in the Pentagon, In the Army and in Washington DC entirely.

11. The rules regarding the MOH do not permit one in his case.

3. gonna have to agree with the first responder
medal of honors are reserved for those who put their life at great risk to save others. The recent ones have been awarded to those who died in the actions after the fact. He deserves credit but the medal of honor is not the proper reward for this bravery.

5. He's still covering up for the culpability of the higher ranking officers
He's already trying to put a lid on the pot they have thrown the lower ranking soldiers in by asserting that there were no orders given for the abuses, and that the soldiers thought up the tortures themselves without any guidance or encouragement. Classic cover-up at the expense of the underlings.

6. No, He Should Not
The Medcal of Honor is a combat decoration.

By the way, do you know the perks that go with being awarded one? The first is a check for $100 per month for the rest of your life and the second is that your children get admission and free tuition to their choice of the Military academys.

At any rate I am thankful for the General's effort but it does not rise to the level of the Medal of Honor.

9. Absolutly
He is a fine man who did the job that we, the people, expect of him and did it in an admirable fashion. All he has to do now to be shown the respect he deserves is to hold out until he gets a new Commander in Chief, which he will.

7. No
http://www.cmohs.org/medal.htm

Writing his report has nothing to do with the standards for the medal:

The Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force which can be bestowed upon an individual serving in the Armed Services of the United States. Generally presented to its recipient by the President of the United States of America in the name of Congress, it is often called the Congressional Medal of Honor.

10. Utterly ridiculous...
Taguba simply does his job in a forthright manner, and he's to receive an honor that has been historically reserved to soldiers who carry out acts of extreme heroism without concern as to their own well-being?

Do you even realize that the majority of MOH's that have been awarded have been given POSTHUMOUSLY? Does that not say something about the requirements of the act precipitating recommendation for such an award?

It has become a sad day indeed in which a person needs to be singled out and lauded for simply doing their job, and doing it well.

12. Mmmm, Sort of agree.
Presidential Freedom Medal definitely, maybe even the Nobel Peace prize. At any rate, certainly a noble and honorable act, and worthy of recognition as such, IMHO.
