17. That's right. The story won't have "legs" if the family is blaming *.

3. it will be interesting to see what spin gets put on it
clearly the ill treatment of their people is being responded with in kind.

which illustrates why we need to treat their people respectfully.

Do you remember the outcry (primarily from the right) when our pows were put on TV, how that was a gross infringement on the geneiva convention?

how about a little consistency.

5. That's a convenient excuse to use but....
Daniel Pearle and the Italian guy that was shot on camera were done well before the prison photos came out. These guys apparently don't need any real reason to execute a prisoner

This plays into Bush's hands more than not.

6. Why shouldnt they?
This is totally repulsive and disgusting. It deserves just as much coverage as the prisoner scandal. It should be on every news broadcast.

I cant stand this administration and their principles but I wont understate a violent act like this just because they might benefit from the coverage.

It would make me as unprincipled as I think they are.

Dont you think this viciousness is a significant act worthy of huge press coverage?

8. I don't think it should be covered up
Of course, this act of brutality isn't the first against an American - remember the bodies that were dragged through the streets.

12. I hear you
But the idea that this shouldnt be a big deal is, quite frankly, a disgraceful suggestion.

It really makes me start to question the focus and purpose of some members of DU.

I am even starting to question my purpose here...

What am I trying to achieve when I cant acknowledge the most vicious of crimes someone commits against a United States citizen?

Is the purpose of this website to pull this administration down at any cost without any regard to original principles of the demcratic party?

I think the rationale some are using here is that this may swing the emotional pendelum back towards the administration. I understand that fear totally but I cant let that fear lead the principles I hold dear.

They beheaded an American folks. I am sorry but that still means something to me.

I admit I really really really dislike * but... In a case like this my gut says this is a big deal.

15. Wrong. It's Psyops 101 -- just like the puppy gassing video.
Who confirmed that this video was real?

What website released it?

Who owns the site?

In what format was it orginally released?

Why haven't we ever seen terrorists' videotaped savagery on network TV before?

Did these terrorist or did they not try to negotiate for the release of Iraqi prisoners? If so, why didn't we save this poor guy's life by handing them a few innocent Iraqis?

Why now? Why now for the first time?

16. I don't see how the Bush* administration can benefit from this
and I don't care if Faux News and every other channel throws the beheading video on 24/7. I don't need to watch it to know that war is horrible but apparently some folks in this country do.

7. Yea, and I read
that Hannity will have the video on his website.

I can't believe how bloodthirsty these right wingers can be. They just love to see the most gruesome details in full color.

9. The right will use this as an argument
to prove that the US Media should never have allowed the photos out and why the remainder of the photos and the videos of the prisoner torture shouldn't be released. Probably successfully, I might add.
