This is totally over the top. They're referring to the Iraqis as "subhumans" while simultaneously defending the prison abusers by soft-peddling their crimes.

1. I wonder what the last group who called enemies "subhuman" was...
Ugh. Even Smith has to backpedal a little to soften the blow - "its preposterous to say the whole Arab world is like this, right?"

2. he's hysterical
I remember him freaking out over alleged UAVs Saddam had. He went on for what seemed like 20 minutes talking about how Saddam was going to fly these things over to the US and "rain down poisons on us and our children and our grandchildren!!!"

I thought he was going to crawl under his desk and go fetal, maybe build a fort out of stuff on the set, that's how worked up he was.

3. That was the most unobjective thing I have ever seen...
... he went on to say how this justifies all of Bush's policies, without quite explaining how all of a sudden we're seeing more terrorism like this, which the policies were supposed to remedy.

5. ROFL...I'd forgotten about that!
He is a riot though. My fave Shepherd memory is the one where he hit the pedestrian in defense of his parking space during the Florida election 2000 nightmare.

He's a real piece of work.

6. Mugshot! Get your Shepard SMith Mugshot!

Fox News Channel anchor Shepard Smith was arrested by Florida police in November 2000 and charged with aggravated battery with a motor vehicle after arguing with another reporter over a parking space (both were covering the Bush-Gore Florida vote debacle).

7. Fox makes no pretense of objectivity.
They consistently refer to "The US" as Us.

9. That doesn't bother me that much
I mean they are an American Network. One wouldn't expect them to have more sympathy with Iraqi insurgents or with Al Queda than with the United States.

What bothers me is that they are constantly pro Republican. And also they don't seem to understand that one can love and support one's country without hating and belittling all others. And their desperate attempts to pretend that this war is justified. And . . . well I could go on and on.

10. It bothers me. The cornerstone of professional journalism is objectivity.
We've had very little of it for the last 15 years or so, and Fox is totally around the bend to being total propaganda. I don't mind a commentator saying "Us", but a REPORTER should say "U.S. troops" or "The United States". It's simple professionalism.

I also hate when they say "homicide bomber". ANY bomber is a homicide bomber! The whole point of the term "suicide bomber" is not to legitimize the attack, but to make it clear that the bomber took his own life along with the victims. Homicide bomber is not only propagandistic, it just sounds DUMB.

11. this guy David Brock just released a book on this ...
... there's an article at salon.com on it today. Brock is a former tool of the right-wing media, and he gives the details about who is funding the whole thing - it was a plan all along for them, enacted over 30 years to get their harebrained ideas into the mainstream media. Fox News was a big part of that.
