What was the verdict on this hideous image? (WARNING:GRAPHIC)

I saw discussion on this yesterday - seems relevant in view of the horrible incident being reported today of Nick Berg's beheading.

Fox news seems to already be using the beheading as propaganda fodder for the Iraq war.

But if the Iraqis are seein stuff like the image in the above link, is this ever coing to end? Have we created our very own Palestine? Is this really what America wants?

(sigh)

1. Sew the wind reap the whirlwind!
The torture started before August of last year in the Iraqi prison! The DOD did nothing about it until last week! A few article-15s ain't gonna' fix this!

There ain't enough money to make me take a chance like the contractors are taking when they go to Iraq! If money is more important to them than life they have my blessing!

FOX is beyond belief!

5. That is so sad!!! And it is all the fault of the bush administration.
I know this is a horrible atrocity, but I really can't blame the Iraqis for retaliating against our abuse. They had to make a hard-hitting statement and I guess this was their way of doing it. I am really sorry that this awful incident happened, but I don't think this is the end of it. I feel there is a lot more to come.

3. Supposedly he was already dead and they drove over the corpse with a tank.
Guess the troops thought it would be fun, or maybe they wanted to "send a message" to the insurgents. I don't know. That's why I was asking.

4. Differences.
I don't think Mr. Berg could be construed to have been a threat to the gentlemen who murdered him on camera. The individual in the nasty image above is not identified. Was he a prisoner at Abu Ghraib?

It seems unlikely. It appears he was hit with a very large caliber weapon; perhaps a 30mm shell from an Apache or medium armor. That would indicate that this photo is either a combatant or a bystander to a firefight. Combat deaths are not the same as cold blooded murder of a helpless individual.

6. As I said, as far as I know, it was a corpse run over by a tank.
Of course, executing a man like that is far worse than running over a corpse, but the fact that our men would do that is very disturbing. I could never do that to a corpse. And imagine the reaction Iraqis seeing it would have?

Again, I have no idea what the cause of this man's death was. There's always an unseen story behind these kinds of photos.

7. During the American Revolution...
Edited on Tue May-11-04 02:58 PM by Ashamed_American
If a British or American soldier was captured alone, they would be lucky if that was all their did to them,

Both the British and Americans were quite fond of sending large groups of men to a small opposing camp, waking up sleeping men, just so they were awake when they killed them.

It's a war, a war that never should have been started in the first place.
