Hey folks, lookee: the Coalition Provsional Authority Website!
Edited on Tue May-11-04 03:43 PM by Kanzeon
I GOTTA nominate this one for "Cruel site of the day..." (www.cruel.com).

Some tidbits:

From http://www.cpa-iraq.org/regulations/index.html#Public_Notices

Especially:

http://www.cpa-iraq.org/regulations/20030610_20030610_CPAPNOTICE_Responsible_Media.html.pdf

Wanna see how "free" Iraq is????

They ban material that "seriously undermine(s) security and civil order" in Iraq.

See also:

http://www.cpa-iraq.org/regulations/PN1.pdf

Now you can guess that their definitions on "inciting violence" are rather expansive, since, after all, they've locked up lots of innocent people.

Here's one you can take to the bank- NOT:

... the CPA has modified the Criminal Procedure Code
to accord the people of Iraq fundamental due process protections and shield them
from human rights violations. The CPA has also introduced provisions ensuring
that persons detained by Coalition Forces are treated in accordance with
intemationallaw and receive prompt justice before Iraqi courts.

Not that they actually state what those procedures ARE! NOWHERE on their webiste is any kind of guarantee for fair and free trials, habeus corpus or anything at all like that!

But the oddest, strangest thing on the site is this:

http://www.cpa-iraq.org/transcripts/20040212_zarqawi_full.html

Now why the heck is this there????

(On edit)

There's more and more strange stuff here- all the evidence you need to see that the real reason for invading Iraq doesn't have anything to do with "human rights."

Consider this very, very important "Order:"

http://www.cpa-iraq.org/regulations/20040501_CPAORD_83_Amendment_to_the_Copyright_Law.pdf:

Article 20 is amended to read as follows:
“1. The author’s economic rights provided for in this Law shall be protected
throughout the lifetime of the author and for 50 years from the date of his death.
2. The economic rights relating to works of joint authorship shall be protected
throughout the lives of all co-authors and for 50 years from the death of the last
survivor.
3. Where the copyright holder is a legal entity, the economic rights relating to
the authors of collective works, other than authors of works of applied art, shall
be protected for 50 years from the date on which the work was published or made
available to the public for the first time, whichever comes first. Where the
copyright holder is a natural person, the protection period shall be calculated
according to the rule stipulated in subparagraph (a) and (b).

See? We invaded Iraq to protect copyrights!

(On edit again...)

Here's a chlling "order":

http://www.cpa-iraq.org/regulations/CPAORD10.pdf

Basically this "order" claims to be a prison reform, dated June 2003.

And it's worth the paper it's not printed on.

1. Wow.....
...who wrote that in the last link?

<snip>

In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate,
From ……………to the proudest of persons and leaders in the age of the servants,
……To the men on the mountain tops, to the hawks of glory, to the lions
of Shara , to the two honorable brothers……………..,
Peace and the mercy and blessings of God be upon you.

Even if our bodies are far apart, the distance between our hearts is close.

Our solace is in the saying of the Imam Malik. I hope that both of us are well. I ask God the Most High, the Generous, this letter reach you clothed in the garments of health and savoring the winds of victory and triumph …. Amen.
