The big unanswered question about torture is....
HOW widespread is it?

The Red Cross seems to imply that the torture of Iraqi prisoners extends beyond the one prison we've seen the notorious photos from. However, what guarantee do we have that these kinds of abuses are limited to IRAQ?

We have another big prison for "enemy combatants" that hasn't been discussed much lately: Guantanamo. Worst of all, we have at least a few American citizens who are being held in violation of their Constitutional rights at Gitmo. We aren't even allowed to know how many might be there.

What assurances do we have that * has not been using these "interrogation measures" against Americans, and people have just been less successful at sneaking cameras out of Camp X-Ray?

2. Remember Bush*
said "the Geneva convention wont apply to the war on terror". This statement in and of itself makes Shrub responsible.

3. It seems to me that congress people don't really give a shit about what
goes on in Gitmo because that is where the hard core terrorists are and we need to extract information. McCain either said that or came close to saying that during the hearing today. It seems they will turn a blind eye to Gitmo with intelligence gathering as the rationale. That is how it appears to me anyway.

4. Torture is rampant . . .
at college fraternities across America, depending on how you define "torture." Being stripped, sleep deprived, blindfolded and falsely told that you are in grave danger, heck, even wearing women's underwear on your head -- that kinda crap happens all the time to pledges at many fraternities. Oh yeah, often they beat the hell out of you too, usually with a paddle.

On a more serious note, are they seriously torturing guys at Gitmo? I hope not, but who the hell knows? How would we even know? No attorneys, no cameras, no constitution. Damn near anything could be going on down there.
