What does it cost to "make" a soldier?

From civilian on the street to trained, equipped soldier, how much does it cost Uncle Sam when it's all added up? Anybody know?

1. For the regular infanry man

half a mil

A combat pilot all the way to three million, and these are just the cost of training and basic equipmnt, not added gear such as oh a figher plane

"It costs about $45,000 to train and equip a new Marine. It costs more than $500,000 to train a fighter pilot. Today's all-volunteer armed services members, who generally must have at least a high school diploma, start off better educated than draftees. They receive extensive education in their specialties and intensive training. "

These guards in the Iraqi prison did not receive anywhere near this kind of investment in training.
