Look at this &*%!$@ CNN Bushevik Pravda
Here is the story that a handful of locals will see:

http://www.pennlive.com/newsflash/pa/index.ssf?/base/news-16/108430077760820.xml

Here is the Sovietized story, undoubtedly vetted by the Psyops Boys and Bushevik Loyalists who now dominate CNN...

http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/05/11/berg.family.ap/index.html

Naturally the Bushevik-authored Sovietized story will be seen by MILLIONS. We simply CAN'T have one of the Filthy Little Nobodies criticizing the Emperor.

What the hell has happened to our beautiful, once-free, once-proud nation? Sovietized Media. Ruled by Lying Tyrants and a sizeable minority LIKE their Virtual Slavery to the Imperial Family.

And how in God's Name can we EVER hope to restore the Old Republic WITHOUT a Free Press!

Read these two stories. Because we are in transition between freedom and Orwellian Tyranny, we can sort of see the Pravda dissected in this way. How it works, how it is designed by Bushevik Psychomanipulators to deny the most information to the most people.

Because one day, if we do not stop the Bushevik Tyrants, our great-grandchildren will live in a 100% Sovietized Media Environment where the truth doesn't even trickle out on the scroller, or Page D23 of the Style Section...

Maybe you need to read them again?

The CNN version has been sanitized.

5. Unless the links changed, they are the same story
One is Sovietized and Sanitized with all criticism of the Emperor* removed (gosh, which one oculd THAT be)

One is the actual story which is only allowed to be seen by the few hundreds who will see it locally.

Read them again now that you know.

13. I have read it.
It's synopsized. There is still a reference to the father's pissedness. The whole thing is shorter. Other info has been cut as well, not just that.

17. Did you now? Where is the reference to the father's pissedness?
What other info has been cut?

By the way, synopsized usually means all information is contained, but encasulated.

However, it doesn't surprise me that one of you was sent over here to throw water on exposure of Imperial Lies.

You must have a VERY good alerting network and more money than you know what to do with.

Who is "you"? Oh, you know I can't say. Don't want to catch a warning. I am speaking of DUer's who's monnikers begin with the Letter 'y', of course.

But YOU KNOW, I KNOW, and now EVERYBODY KNOWS.

Damn, there are so many of you around here lately. I bet it doesn't pay very well and the benefits suck.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence that the "synopsification" removed all the most damaging information and quotes. Damaging to the Emperor, that is, which means they were the most American of the comments.

You are busted. No one is listening, though I understand that it is a main principle of propgaanda that you people (that being DUers who's monnikers begin with the letter 'y') say it even if NOBODY IS LISTENING because your best work is when people don't realize they are being professionally manipulated.

2. Interesting how much more negative the tone of the first one is
Certainly seems they just took snippets for the CNN version, and certainly left out the part about the administration not wanting a democracy...

6. Good catch!
They definitely sanitized it!

This is missing from the CNN report:

Michael Berg lashed out at the U.S. military and Bush administration, saying his son might still be alive had he not been detained by U.S. officials in Iraq without being charged and without access to a lawyer. note: US OFFICIALS

and this:

"I think a lot of people are fed up with the lack of civil rights this thing has caused," he said. "I don't think this administration is committed to democracy."

7. Suddenly it was the Iraqis that detained him? No mention that
he was detained for 13 days by the U.S. without being charged or access to a lawyer? Sanitization. Criminal. I agree that without a free press we are FUCKED!

9. The New York Times

The story in the NYT sanitizes in a similar manner. The Washington Post story, which at present is fairly brief, only mentions Berg family comments related to whether they want to see the tape of the killing and the "thoughts and prayers" remark.

11. Of course they do. I didn't even need to look to know that
Totalitarianism is so easy to predict it's boring.

I miss the Raucous Caucus of Liberty that almost always surprises.

But Imperial Amerika isn't about Liberty and Freedom, it is about Power, Control, and Soviet-style Lies.

10. Happens all the time
It's called the Corporate Media.

This is WHAT THEY DO every day...sanitize a story for mass consumption so the story is the SAME on all major outlets.

Nice that people are slowly waking up to their tactics but I'm afraid that the other 99.97% of Amerika is asleep to their practices.

16. AP
AP often runs multiple versions of the same story with varying lengths. I haven't had time yet to verify that this is the case here, but it's likely. All I'm saying is that everybody here is wanting to jump down CNN's throat, and it's the AP's story, so figure out who did what before y'all go off half-cocked. Anyway, Berg's father was already ON fucking CNN today and said his piece, so that takes the wind out of this argument anyway.

18. Hardly, the point is the media sanitizing the news...
and whether the father was on CNN or not doesn't moot the point that CNN changed the AP article in very specific ways. CNN has a habit of doing that, unfortunately, so it is important to not let it go unnoticed, imo.

21. Yes, that's all very fine.
Except that the text in the CNN article comes verbatim from the consolidated AP article on this thing from today. It cuts other corners too, not just about the parents. And this continuing nonsense that "only a few locals" will see a NATIONAL AP PIECE is just ridiculous.

19. Americans need to wake up real quick. This brainwashing shit has gotta end
The results are a third rate Prez who is bungling our hopes for a longer and better future. Instead he takes us down a path of greed for himself and friends. Take a hard look who is getter richer off this war thing. Its not you and me. Its the Mil Ind Complex. Joe Six Pack is in danger of being drafted some time soon. Oil went up 20% this year alone.... all thanks to Bush and the Brainwashing fiends of the Far Right. They are so off base its tragic.

22. Let me spell this out for those that don't see the difference...
It is interesting to note that the local article is a lot more negative of Bush and how Berg was mysteriously detained by the US, and not given access to any guarantees given to him under the constitution as an American citizen.

The second (CNN) article tries to draw more on the patriotism of the late Mr. Berg (which I don't doubt--I am sure he was. My point is not the deceased or his actions, I feel they were noble, and may he rest in peace) and although it mentioned his detention, it was mentioned that he was detained by Iraqis, and it implies that he was in Iraqi custody until he was murdered. IT NEVER MENTIONS THAT HE WAS TURNED OVER TO US OFFICIALS, then released.

What is fair is foul, and what is foul is fair methinks.

Nice pickup on what should be noteworthy to us all, Tom.

I would say congratulations, but I don't feel that is the proper word to use considering the cicumstances and subject matter of the two stories, or the disparaging facts of the stories themselves.

23. The New York and Philly network affiliates have been running variants
all day. I live in an area that receives both the New York and Philadelphia affiliates of CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX, WB, and UPN. Obviously, the Philly coverage is more in-depth since Berg was from Pennsylvania; it's odd what the New York stations omit (for time or slant, who knows).
