according to what I have heard. That might account for some weight loss and the clothes he was wearing in the video were baggy.

But...It stil doesn't look like the same person but it is hard to tell. You can't tell the color of his hair in this picture.

The PICTURE of the guy in blue is much bigger. Resize. Furthermore, adjust for skewage from the video image.

Same mouth, cheeks, hairline, same proportions in facial features.

Hair's grown out, but the facial features are the same. I'm presuming that he lost some weight during his two detentions in Iraq, so I'm not surprised by the thinner appearance in the beheading video.

I don't think he ate too well in Iraq...

consider he's probably 20 pounds lighter and hadn't shaved or had a haircut in a few weeks.

jumpsuit looks Iraqi...has darker looking skin. Strange that 2 pictures could be so different.

Two weeks ago I had a 'Lincoln beard' and long hair.
Now I'm clean shaven with a buzz.
I'll grow this out for a few months then start all over
- and every time I do I get the predictable:
"Wow, you look like a different person"

That's not "unshaved". That's shaved, and either by himself in a mirror, or by someone else.

The beard is a distinctive style one sees a lot on Muslim men, most popularly in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

I would suspect that Mr Berg was attempting to "fit in" appearance wise for the sake of his safety. I had wondered initially if he was a Muslim convert or sympathizer and had adopted that look out of conviction, but I understand that this is not the case.

Mr Berg disappeared sometime in early April -- yet none of his captors -- if in fact he had been a captive -- paraded him before the cameras until this horrific murder. Did this murderous group only recently acquire him?

He appears clean and neat, although he appears to have lost some weight.

Something that struck me from the video was how calm and casual he seemed to be -- I conclude that he had no idea that he was going to be killed until the bastards began to slaughter him.

Anyone who is remotely familiar with weight training can attest to how quickly muscle definition can fluctuate...especially when you don't HAVE ACCESS to weight training equipment for a little while.

the guy in the orange suit obviously has shaved and sculpted his beard. It looks as though he cultivated that beard and was allowed to continue to do so. We really do not have the details of this abduction. We do not know when this picture was taken
